What difficulty do you prefer?
Just curious what difficulty everyone likes to play on.

Do you progress during a cycle, adjust based on conditions, just play one difficulty at all times?

Difficulty is not one variable, its a matrix with the 3 main variables:
-Prestige level
-Unlocks and caravan bonusses
-Map modifiers

I don't like a difficulty in particular. I like to play with this matrix. Also, every game is fun, it is fun to struggle for survival and win by the skin of your teeth on year 8 on a hard game, it's also fun to produce 200 lux packs per year by year 4 in a not so hard game and totally break the game like that.
In QH, i generally play 2/3 of the game on P6. For exceptionally hard modifiers i may step down to Viceroy or even Veteran though. The end of the run is forced to be P20 of course.

I play on P20 unless a modifier has convinced me to turn it down.

In my eye, the game "true standard difficulty" is P11.
It is also the standard difficulty I go for "good fragment per year" unless there are scary modifier.

Most of my game are between P6 and 11, and increase it when I have to when close to the seal.

Just lost my first settlement in a long time though, playing with Fire Moth curse and Monastery of Holy Flame. FeelsBadMan

Viceroy is fun and fast for seal grinding
edit: lmao never mind, it's not that simple

At first I was just pushing prestige, but eventually as I got higher into prestige levels I will dial it back for certain conditions like, for example, if I'm trying to do a hard negative modifier and I'll still have enough fragments for my seal then I'll choose an easier prestige level.

I just scaled up over time once i scale up i don't go back down however i'm not that far up the difficultly. I usually do one run after I unlock the seal maybe two. Once the maps feel easy and i'm finishing early I up the difficultly.

I prefer the pioneer difficulty level just because its pleasant and easy to progress, but obviously you can't stay at pioneer difficulty all the time because you are required to push up the difficulty as you move further out. I like the level of rewards that veteran difficulty gives, but I have to think a little bit harder and play a bit slower on veteran. I find viceroy and above to be a bit unpleasant in general and I have to play much slower and with a lot more attention to detail. I like the challenge of the higher difficulties occasionally, but I don't like that level of challenge all the time. As I unlock more and become better at the game, higher difficulties are becoming easier and more acceptable, but I still like to cruise on pioneer.
