How often do you pick Camps blueprints?
Just like in the topic, during a settlement if you are presented multiple times with a camp blueprint, how likely you are to pick it?

I think I usually pick 1 maybe 2 camps during a single settlement and I am mostly wondering if I should be picking more camp blueprints. Of course if I can afford a blueprint from a Trader that is almost a no brainer for me. Reward for completing an Order? Yes please. But what if you are presented camp and some other building option to choose from?

I dont like leaving too much to chance, so i generally dont pick any blueprints until the start of year 2 when i open 2 dangerous glades and i have the trader present. So i know what resource nodes are in that glade and what blueprints the trader may have to offer.

Now under the following conditions, i pick the camp blueprint 100% certain over absolutely any and all alternative picks because solving raw food is the absolute top priority:
-I have not yet solved raw food for this game.
-I have at least 2 large nodes that can be harvested by this camp.
-The same blueprint cannot be bought from the trader

Now if i have not yet solved food, and a camp is offered but i don't have nodes for it yet, or only 1, while not 100% sure, I am still very likely to pick it if the corresponding resources are common on the map. If the other bleuprint option doesn't look too interesting, it's a no-brainer of course. If the other option does really look interesting. I'd first try opening more dangerous glades before making the pick if i think i can. (depending how i feel about the current 2 glade events if i dare to take on a third, i am not going to wait till next year before picking the blueprints)

If food is already solved, it really depends on endless variables if i will still pick a camp.

Will you still pick the Camp if it will let you gather 2 large Herbs nodes? Or other nodes that will not help you with food directly?
If you already picked a Camp that will help you feed your people (with 2 large nodes present), will you pick another camp?
In years 3 or later will you still consider picking a camp?

Yes, i don't know by head what is the secondary resource on herb nodes, but they probably DO give me something to eat. And the chance i can make some sort of advanced food out of the inedible raw food is large. If food is not yet solved, i must absolutely take this chance 100%. (But food is still not solved for now, so if next pick gives me a camp that can gather edible and available food, i'll take that too)

In that case its just a convenience consideration. What is it that i am going to gather with this camp, what will it do for me (enable new advanced foods i suppose). What are the chances of that working out and whats the benefits exactly, vs the same questions for the other blueprint option.

The improved camps can be powerful upgrades, so these will always flow to the top of my decisions. On Marshlands, the improved camps can be essential as farming is scarce, and so I will try to embark with one and look out for the others as I go. I feel they are less critical in Royal Woodlands. In the Coral Forest I will try to match the camps with the types of villagers for the most bonuses ... if I have humans, I will favor farming.

Generally, I keep an eye on what resources are available, determine which camps gather those, and then try to get them ASAP (and leave the others be). If I forget mid-game, I can just open the pause menu, which shows the map's tree/node resources on the lower-left side.

Ie, if there's Insects/Meat/Eggs but no Mushrooms/Berries/Herbs on a map, a choice between the Trapper's Camp and Herbalist's Camp is a no-brainer; I'd pick the former, and then never get the latter because there's no nodes for it to use in that settlement. If a camp's resources heavily favor one over the other, I'd also simply get the one it favors.

If I analyze all my previous play through.
I can definitely tell you that around 40% of the selected blueprint is low performing. And I am stopping myself to say the word "completely not has any purpose", because you can't reroll forever to get something fulfill your exact need.
Mostly just a "just in case pick" rather than "OMG I need this now pick".
So if the camp can harvest 2 resource in this biome ?
Yes I will pick. Even better if it has synergy to the race.
Example getting Forager getting grain/vegetable, while there is human and fox.

camps are way better than farms so if you have a LARGE resource node that can be harvested with one of them you should always choose it. a single large resource node can last you 80% of the game

One large camp usually, but depends on the other buildings AND if I'm not farming already.
On marshlands, large camps are a must, but the forager camp isn't as important as trapper and herbalist.
