Question about Mine upgrades...
So, this "upgrade" feature isn't clear to me at 100%.

This is what I see:

This is a mine placed on top of 3 ore veins.

I can do 3 upgrades:

1) Pit Pony: gives me 75 more copper ores.
2) Minecart: gives me 75 more copper ores.
3) Box Crib: gives me 120 more copper ores.

Now, since I can only select one of those 3 upgrades, and all of them have the same cost, wouldn't be obvious that I would choose the third upgrade, that gives me the more ores?

I feel that I'm missing something here.

Even taking one of the first two upgrades will give you a lot of raw materials to excavate, possibly enough for several game years at basic mining speed. Choosing option 1 or 2 will increase the mine's efficiency by either speeding up production (Pit Pony) or automating deliveries so workers can spend more time digging (Minecarts). Either of these will get the ore to your warehouse more quickly, speeding production of tools, etc. I generally go for the carts (creepy though they are), although the pony is a good choice if your warehouse is really close.
If you haven't finished the game before depleting the ore, you'll probably be able to upgrade the mine again anyway.

It's not as obvious as you might think. I can sometimes run mines on 3 or more nodes for a whole game without depleting it which makes Box Crib less valuable.

I like to take Minecart first ... the built in hauler is pretty powerful.

If the mine is over 3 or more nodes, I'll move on to a second upgrade as soon as I can. Pit Pony will speed everything up; Box Crib gives more ore on the node. That makes this decision situational.

If the mine is over 1 or 2 nodes, I'll only take the first upgrade, as the upgrades are expensive.

If you say the last upgrade is the best upgrade then yeah, you are missing something. You should take more time to read descriptions of these upgrades, that is where the answer is.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Its funny how any text that isn't numbers will just get ignored.

Always put a warehouse right next to the mine so you dont need the carts and double upgrade mining speed. Without mining speed, mining is a pretty darn mediocre fuel source. With double speed upgrades, its a great fuel source. (calculated for minutes of work per minutes of keeping the hearth burning)
