Bad Steam Deck Controls?

Is anyone else struggling with the official steam deck controls? Has anyone found a better control scheme for it? Love the game but man the controls feel so cumbersome especially coming off of other city builders like Two Point Campus or Oxygen Not Included, this feels very clunky

Selecting numbers of anything is almost impossible without touching the screen. Using the trigger to click on the slider never seems to work. Hardly game-breaking, but inconvenient for sure.

Rotate screen, rotate building, path, couple of overlays on a delayed macro.

Kinda defeats the point of using a steam deck if I need periphery controls to make it work. I take my deck on the go alot and its already a bulky thing. Adding extra stuff to the kit is kinda counter intuitive
