I looked in the settings and for some reason, the resolution was set absurdly high (3840 x 2160)
I've set it to native resolution and the stutter seems to be completely gone now
I tried turning v-sync off from the game itself and use v-sync from NVidia directly but the issue still happens. Unfortunately changing the resolution helped at first but the stutter came back with the settlement getting bigger
The issue is obviously CPU related since the stutter/low FPS is a lot worse the moment I use the UI overlay to see all buildings and workers, while the GPU usage and temperature stays very low no matter what
I’ll try knocking vsync off and see how that goes. Not tried that yet 👍
Same with the FPS. The in game counter and external testing show it barely drops below 100fps and it’s not even taxing the system load/temp wise.
I have Corsair/icue and wondered if it was that as it does the really cool RGB sync up with the game (a pleasant surprise) and icue shat itself during one play and crashed itself. I tried disabling that on a restart and that didn’t fix the stutter either.
Again it’s only the scrolling of the map. If you sit and watch, it’s 100%.
I’ll try some more resolution/vsync changes though.
Edit : I checked for the recommended CPU for that game and they list a +5000 score CPU. My current CPU is +17 000. It really shouldn't be a problem then
Graphics was set to medium thinking it would help. I decided to switch to low and see if the FPS would be better, and the FPS went from 100 to 60. This is while the game was set to uncapped FPS. Picked medium again, frames back to 100. Low, 60. While at low graphics, I toggled v-sync on and off, and FPS is now at 110
There seems to be something in settings that don't play along very well the moment you quit and load the game without touching anything, which in turn then causes the stutter
The problem seems to be rooted deeply in the Unity engine version that we're using and we'll look for a workaround to this issue.
