Tips for dealing with Rotten Rain?
Three blood flowers every storm is rough.

What do you guys do to mitigate the food loss? Is there a way to mitigate it? Or do I just have to accept the fact that this debuff will take my food count to zero every storm season?

Best trick I've found so far is to just prioritize flour recipes and porridge, since the flowers wont take all the base ingredients for those and I can just start baking and porridgeing(?) again after the storm >.>

Either out produce it or lower the hostility

You can also decide not to use fertile soil at all. No farms no Flowers.
Another way to save food is to move all the food you can into storages of producion buildings (Flowers only eat from Warehouse). It will not save Complex Food though.

one trick for this mystery is to pause the game every <70 secs, sacrifice coal/wood to get down to hostility lv2 and unpause for one sec, then you can stop sacrificing since the timer resets.

an alternative way to deal with living matters is to mass build makeshift posts, open all recipes for pack of crops/provisions and transfer all your food in their storage, but not to actually produce the packs. once you have solved those living matters, you can just go to their storage tab and take your food back. this also works for living matters found in the dangerous glades.

these methods do feel a bit cheesy but imo living matters are just the worst design in this game. >90 food for a little bit resources is even more costy than most of the forbidden events and honestly i dont think there is a viable non-cheesy way to deal with them in high prestige runs.

rotten rain has been changed and it has nothing to do with fertitle soil at this moment. it just triggers every 70 secs at hostility lv3 and randomly spawns a living matter in your base.

Well, I had outdated info, sorry for making unnecessary confusion.

These are both absolute banger ideas :D

It's been getting to the point where I just want to insta quit the settlement whenever I see this mystery. Using makeshift posts as protected food dumps for tight spots is not something that would have occurred to me. The message does say "from the storehouse" though.

I have no qualms about cheesing this particular mechanic because even with hostility reduction buildings and cornerstones, THREE hostility is ridiculously low for such a punishing mystery. Especially now that you can no longer avoid it by demolishing your fields every season and protected trade has been nerfed.

Thank you very much!

wait for the nerf

even the hyper p20 y5 players spam complaints about it in the dev discord, now that their favorite cheese to avoid dealing with it went away.

meanwhile, yah, this cultured chinese fellow is giving you the current cheeses.
