Higher Prestige years
I can successfully complete a settlement 95% of the time at Prestige 5 in around 5 to 7 years. You receive 5 shards on P5 completion.

At Prestige 6 (buildings cost more), 9 (Villagers work slower on events), and 10 (goods worth less to traders), my success rate drops, but I'm normally still able to win. However, this usually takes 7-10 years. You get 6 shards on P10 completion.

The cycle allows for X number of years to reach a seal; I love this mechanic, because it encourages improvement and optimization. BUT it's disincentivizing to play at the higher difficulties. You'll normally get more shards in and more bonuses playing lower.

Not sure how to fix this, other than bumping rewards at higher Prestige. Or do I suck at P10? Thoughts?

Its not nice to say suck. But surely there is room for improvement. A good bunch of players on the forums win p20 in 5-6 years consistently and with a 100% winrate. (except for a few exceptionally harsh map modififiers that could slow you down or even bring the winrate down from 100%)

Also, playing a higher difficulty level doesn't have to be for rewards. You do it for the challenge :)

P10 looks bad because it's the last difficulty that gives 6 shards. On P11 the comparison is much more fair with 7 shards.

From my 400 hours of playtime, P20 runs take
15-20% - 7 years
75% - 6 years
5-10% - 5 years

9 shards in 6 years compared to 5 shards in 4 years (plus more royal resupplies) averages to around the same, but high difficulties make the game a lot more interesting.

there is definitely a bit of a scaling issue with the system. The score multiplier is meaningless now and citadel resources don't matter that much after a while. So it only matters for fragments which only go up every couple prestige levels. Even for the distance-mandated difficulty it goes in steps of 5 prestige levels (and except for P20 you'll always want to manually go 1 higher for the extra fragment).

With difficulty increase, you will surely take more years to win.
Due to more efforts for every steps in your settlement.
8-10 years become a norm (not bad) for P10+.

At some point you are forced to play higher difficulties to reach the seals due to the borders. I see no big deal if you want to have a relaxed time until reaching these borders. Better reward more relaxed games than feeling bad about too difficult games- or the feeling of lost oppurtunity because you "should" have played higher P-Levels. This also gives more room to achieve special deeds, which you really dont want to make at P20.
