Shard fragments "sold back to the crown"
I'm going to find out for myself in a few more games when the cycle ends I suppose, but can anyone tell me if the line about "selling seal shards back the crown" is fluff, or do we actually get metaprogression resources or something similar based on the number of shards we have left at the end of a cycle?

I did not read nearly enough before starting into this batch and went off in a random direction (and stockpiled shards because shards are good right?) so I'm wondering if I'm going to end up with a fat load of nothing at the end of the cycle or if I'll get some something for my troubles. Thanks!

At the end of the cycle, the remaining shard fragments are sold to the queen, giving 1 food, 1/2 machinery and 1/3 artifacts per shard fragment sold.
At early levels, they provide some nice extra ressources for upgrades. Later on they have no impact anymore.

Although the ratio is fitting, it might also have been 3/2/1 per shard fragment. Please write how much you got.

I think I had like 8 shards when I completed my first cycle. At the end I got some additional food under the header "converted shards" as well as some machinery and artifacts.
The numbers given above seem about right. In which case I propably got 8 extra food, 4 machinery parts and 2 artifacts. from my 8 shards.

But it's not just fluff, it is converted into stuff.

Might be a few days, but I'll post the amount to confirm when I get there. Sounds like the amount is really not much though, so my original plan of "stockpile shards for metaprogression" probably isn't gonna work out, hahaha.

Whelp, I feel like a goober now. Clicking "End cycle early" gives you a confirmation first, and shows what the rates are. 1, 1/2, 1/3 for Bread/Gears/Shields respectively. Screenshot I linked *should* confirm.

They're pretty impactful later if you plan on using the sacrifice shrine and dont want to lose workers.

Theoretically yes, but in that case you have to take two (I think this is mostly the evenpoint) or three stormforged buffs in EACH settlement to make this a necessary reserve (beside reforging the seal will provide tons of ressources later on, far more than selling shards). I can only speak for myself, but i rarely buy more than one perk or even a single one- either I will see myself winning anyway with already 7 reputation or so, the perks proved dont fit my strategy, or I am just greedy. So my hoard grows and grows, anyway, which brings me back to my first statement above.
