theres plenty of ways to make flour but if you definitely cant get focus on otherstuff like pickled goods or jerky
The most OP thing in the game by far are traders and trade routes. If you've got no farms, you've probably got some incredible industries you can sell for more food than you could ever need.

You will unlock them as embark options as you play the game (but dont spend your points on them too hastily lol other options will be better in most cases)
Mostly you'll find yourself using the small farm for oil production, the plantation is good for lots of food and the herb garden never really feels that useful
Other soil buildings tend not to be worth it sadly...unless you are desperate. Greenhouse is extremely slow to produce. Clay pit is...yeah...don't use this haha unless you have no other option.
Forresters hut is kinda nice though. Dew bars are a valuable resource in many production lines or can be traded for more stuff you need. I feel Forresters and Small Farm are the best of the fertile soil buildings by a large margin.
