question on embark points and time?
so, does the amount of seasons you take on a game affect the state of the outer world progression bar?
Should i be trying to speed run these maps?

If i dont use all my embarkation bonus points, do i get any thing like boosted win rewards or a break on the forests hate / resolve?

I think it impacts other factions progression, but I'm pretty sure it can't affect how many settlements you get per wipe.

I don't think idle embark points do anything, but I haven't tested.

There was cosmetic unlock for using no embark points at all i believe. And as ulzgoroth said - going fast you outrun competition. More tiles to grab but less trade route options.

The amount of YEARS you take affects the state of the progress bar on the overworld. Finishing year 4 Drizzle is the same as finishing year 4 Storm, but Year 5 drizzle will be an extra "cost" even if it was year 4 storm just 10 seconds before your win.

Speedrunning the maps will ultimately lead to more reliable wins, I have found. If you let things drag on to years 7, 8, etc you are making it easier for something to go wrong. Racial expectations will rise, making it difficult to get that extra bit of Reputation you need to offset Impatience, the glade you targeted won't have anything good in it, or you'll just plain old lose track of something and run out of food or building supplies.

Ultimately, AtS and Frostpunk play somewhat similarly in their basic principle of: "If you are reacting to situations, you are losing." In both games you can lose for quite a bit of time before you see a loss screen, and you absolutely can turn a losing situation into a winning one with the correct play. But if you are speedrunning, there are strictly fewer situations that can make you react. You have less opportunity to lose.

There is still a deed for finishing a P10 game without embark bonuses, though it doesn't unlock anything. Its just an option for self-imposed difficulty. At most I guess they could give you a small score bonus for every unused point or something.

There is a number of years available for settling each cycle. The faster you finish the more settlements you can fit into each cycle, although that doesn't mean much unless you are really competitive in the order contest. If you want to see what the edge of the map looks like you can run a line of fast settlements on pioneer to the edge.
