Had the same issue a month or so back with one of the updates. Game ran fine, got updated, couldn't play, ran hot or something. Got fixed later. Happens to some people during updates every so often. The problem doesn't exist in the Experimental build from what I've heard and even experienced first hand so you can always check that if you feel the problem is getting unbearable. The build is kind of in between in updates compared to public though.
But yeah, you can try turning down some graphics settings. In my experience, that didn't work which leads me to believe its some gremlin that goes beyond just GPU demand. They update often though so intentionally or not they usually fix the issue. I haven't had any major problems since I reported mine back than. So, play around the setting and try a few different things. Can't hurt. If it works, yea just a basic heat problem form setting if it doesn't, well probably something else.
It does however has kinda high CPU loading.
Reduce FPS will help some what.
fps is limited to 60, but even in main menu gpu fans going crazy
my pc eats +200-250 watts
I don't have a graphics card nearly that strong and I never ran into an issue with this game.
e: Or it might just be an airflow problem. Generally you want positive pressure in your case, so more fans pulling air in than blowing out. You'll also want the top of your case usually to be "out".
wich cpu cooler do you exactly have?
i have an 12700k and a rtx 2080 capped the game at 120fps(via nvidia control panel) on a 144hz screen
my temps are fine.
12700k+RTX2080
i monitored my stuff closer
my cpu is under 60C°
and my gpu under 80C° even after long sessions
so iam very curious how high your temps actualy are and wich cpu cooler u use exactly.
if you get that hot something possibly wrong with your cooling alltogether.
All that energy turns to heat, and that heat has to go somewhere. Your power supply and GPU are going to pull a lot more power than mine, even if we're using fundamentally the same computer resources.
Here are some options, to cool things down:
-Open your case, and vacuum the dust out
-Get water cooling
-Add more fans to your case
-Swap out your GPU fans for something better
-Google "computer case fan placement", and make sure you have them optimally arranged for ideal airflow.
-Get a bigger case
IMO, the best fans, for your GPU or case, are Noctura. They're dead quiet, and cool better than anything else I've found. Seriously, with the screen off I can't tell whether or not my computer is on half the time.
Not affiliated in anyway, but I saw this bracket you can get for the 3080, for mounting Noctura fans: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1313592594/msi-ventus-rtx-3080-3090-video-card-fan
Currently (with the Sealed Forest update) the game is, in a way, unplayable for me. My gpu just get's so hot so fast (85c), with fans working on max that I'm afraid to run the game (also beerly hitting 70+ fps).
I do not experience this sort of behavior in any other game I play (and I play plenty of them), and of course no other game I play runs on Unity.
This also happend to me on one of the earilier builds of the game (a few builds back) and it was fixed on the following build.
Ryzen 7600x + 7900XTX (latest drivers).
