Idol Workers??

What does it mean when ALL workers I place in the discovered caches or other relevant buildings say they are always idol? This is affecting my game progress. I have tried swapping breeds over, removing for a while, NOTHING is getting them to work in any discovered areas?

Make sure you click investigate when you assign workers and choose to keep or send. Also make sure you have the tools or super tools available in your inventory.

oh DUH I dont think I was clicking on Investigate hahahahaha ... not sure about what tools they are supposed to have. I dont remember anything about tools in the tutorial round. Thank you for a quick reply.

Each event, cache, or hobo camp will have a set of resources required to solve it. You can click on the resource if it has arrows circling it to change out the resource. Tools will be the default for cache's. Later on you will see infused which are a cure-all but hard to get.

That wasnt the solution re idol workers .. I DID click on investigate and its still happening. heres a screenshot. You can see under progress I have the option to "cancel" which proves I clicked on investigate yet I still get the message Idol workers. Second game now its doing i I have no options under buildings to build smithing or carpentry to get the tools. So when to these buildings unlock?

I always forgot to click Investigate button.
There are 3 steps:
1) Choose resources that you have (sometimes you can have nothing).
2) Add villagers.
3) Click on Investigation button.

One step forgotten; 3) is the 4) and number 3) is Choose your reward.

Seems like you lack the resources to get started on the cache. You need simple tools or infused tools. I almost never get to even opening them until late game because the requirements are just not worth working towards for the reward they give.

Make sure you have the required resources, and you've chosen which one of the 2 rewards you want, and click on investigate. It's easy to miss one of those at times.

Not idol.
An idle worker is a worker who isn't doing anything.
A idol worker is a worker who gets idolised.

hey guys, i have the same problem. I clicked investigate but the workers become idle immediately and there is no sign that says what i need to do. this is frustrating. any ideas? i can't do anything with an obelisk, or crates. thanks

Are you out of resources for that event?
Did you select the wrong resource?

As others have said, there could be a few reasons your workers are idle.
1. You don't have enough resources to complete the selected task. For example, there's one that requires Incense, Oil, Scrolls, or a few other higher tier items to complete. If you don't have enough, they can't do anything.
2. You selected the wrong resource. Some of them require you to choose which resource to use, rather than just "use any of them." So if you don't have enough of the selected resource, they can't complete the task.
3. You forgot to select which option to do. Whether to raid the crates, or send them to the Citadel, for example.
4. You forgot to hit "Investigate"
