Fists are weak as hell (early game)
I see insane stuff online with perma stunned, 100-0 combo chains and infinite whatever be it ki, hp regen, ki break etc etc etc. But early game (and by that I mean almost your entire first playthrough) they sure feel so much worse than my other experience with like the Switchglaive...

You just don't have the stats to make up for the massive amount of Ki you'd need to keep combo's up long enough. The damage is too low to actually break elite enemies/bosses in time before they wombo combo you to death.

This post is basically a vent, cause I'm mad as ♥♥♥♥ now getting clapped by stuff I 1st tried on Switchglaive. I want to work towards higher levels/endgame sets to come somewhat close to what you see online. But bloody hell it sure is annoying at times.

I feel your pain, but I just chalked it up to being a first-time player. I chose fists from the get go and had to spend quite some time online finding combos I can actually execute properly. I hope fists grow on you and that you overcome your frustration!

Just in case you haven't seen this tutorial. It helped me a lot.

Agreed. Everyone was saying 'fists OP' but found them way underwhelming compared to tonfa, which have better break and ki damage, and are almost as fast (faster with the right skills)

Yup, spent quite some time with guide too to get a grip on the combo's and weapon specific mechanics. Really feel like fists are a NG++ and higher thing. When you have the high stats needed to really make it all shine. As well as access to armor and perks needed to really start punching things to oblivion.

I remember quickly pummeling stuff when I did Switchglaive, which I leveled to character 350-ish. I still want to learn fists better, but especially with some bosses, it's such a slog. Considering a respec and run/learn Tonfas for now, until I'm high enough to make fists shine more.

That's what I'm wrestling with now. Keep on slogging with fists until I'm high enough to make them really shine, or total respec and go for Tonfas until I'm high enough to make fists work as people claim they do online and in videos.
Fists don't really stand out until late game with all the goofy good stuff involving ki cost reduction and faster ki regen. Also gets easier once you get ki pulse and flux 1/2 down.

Otherwise it is a lot of Battering Ram and/or Reckless Charge spamming until you unlock and get used to defensive drop and have beyond infinity down (disclosure, I still can't do it consistently :sudama:). Limitless can be pretty hilarious with one punch man builds, but I personally prefer the axe/hammer Rumbling Earth.

Tonfas has a focus on multi-hits skills (Wild Lions, Pulverize) which makes elemental status applications very easy as long as you have talisman and/or imbued elements... Demon Dance can be a bit messy for timing though.

If you run into annoying block spamming humans, Tonfas High Stance Strong Attack into Pulverize should bust any guard they have. I highly recommend using a spear as a sub weapon for poking enemies from a safer distance (ubume/screaming lady specifically) if you go this route.

Good luck! :ojigi:

At early game everything is terrible weak; for me whole first difficulty entirely is worst part of game

Everything good starts on dream of demon

I can really say that about any weapon

Skills are when things start getting juicy

Kick Cycle and Spin kick are both great at destroying ki. Otherwise I generally just stay mid stance for the great blocks and versatile dodges. Mid stance isn't too ki hungry on it's attack combos either.
