Difficulty mode: Asian

Pros: There is a lot of Asian culture in this game, and I really like it. The graphics are very good, as is the entire atmosphere created in each scenario. The fights aren't very challenging, but they're a lot of fun. The entire layout of items, armor and weapons is really cool, plus you can create your character the way you want, there are several options.

Cons: I didn't really like the game's music at the beginning and ended up leaving it without music, just audio of the sound effects, I didn't give it another chance. I think I was expecting some more oriental songs, but I might be talking ♥♥♥♥, thinking that I turned off the music right at the beginning.

In short: I believe I spent my money very well spent on this game. If you like the oriental atmosphere with a bit of horror, like souls-like games and RPGs, Nioh 2 is a great fit, just like the first Nioh.

Prós: Aparece muito da cultura asiática nesse jogo, e eu gosto muito. Os graficos são muito bons, assim como toda a ambientação criada de cada cenário. As lutas são não muito desafiantes, mas são bem divertidas. Todo o esquema de itens, armaduras e armas é bem legal, além de que você cria sua personagem do jeito que quiser, tem várias opções.

Cons: Não gostei muito das músicas do jogo logo no começo e acabei deixando sem música só com audio dos efeitos sonoros, não dei outra chance. Acho que esperava mais umas músicas mais orientais, mas posso estar falando merda, pensando que, desliguei a musica logo no começo.

Resumindo: Eu acredito que gastei meu dinheiro muito bem gasto nesse joguinho. Se você gosta da atmosfera oriental com um pouco de horror, gosta de jogos tipo souls-like e RPG o Nioh 2 é um prato cheio, assim como o primeiro Nioh.

If you believe this to be like any Soulslike, rewrite your whole notion of the genre. This game reinvents what it is already a very good genre.

Nioh 2 starts out like any other game. You create a character in a very in depth character creator, choose 2 out of 8 weapons (10 if you have DLC) and choose 1 of 3 guardian spirits, they're kind of like your "ultimate" ability which you'll use often, each of the 3 has a different rythm and timing to it and play differently but at this point it doesn't matter much which you choose.

You're then thrown into this world map where you choose your first mission. This game is mission based, each level is different and has shortcuts to each "bonfire" which is called shrine in this game. Think of Demon's Souls archstones, but they are mission levels instead.

The gameplay loops is as follows: Choose a mission, progress throught it while killing enemies with the AMAZING in depth combat which includes 3 stances (low, mid, high) per weapon and each play differently, and you'll be switching between them in a seamless but complex combat system that only gets better the more points you invest in all the available skill trees. You're then showered, and I mean showered with loot that you'll be constantly switching up after each mission.

That's it, then you finish the main story. And the game begins. New Game+ is basically the same map but adds 1 more rarity to weapons/amor, changes enemy variety, placement and movesets and send you back into the action with more things to do. And then you finish the game again. and again, and then again. Each New Game+ adds something new. Once you're in the Dream of The Nioh difficulty the real endgame begins. But if you read this far you're already sold so I'll let you explore that on your own.

The replayability is incredible and the combat system is still unrivaled at the time of this review (2024). This game is a sinkhole of fun and you'll sink hours and hours into it if the combat clicks and you enjoy this convoluted but entertaining mess of systems upon systems and mechanics that never end, You'll always be discovering something new, be it trying a new combination of weapons or a new armor set with abilities that improve your playstyle.

Nioh 2 is one of the best games ever made and on the surface it doesn't seem like it, only by diving into it do people actually understand how deep and well designed everything is.
