Automatically gather manure?

Can I let them gather it? I need a ton for fuel and they aren't allowed to gather it by default.

They will gather manure if your ranch animals drop them.
They won't gather from out in the wild unless you select them and click "allow use". If you have "handling" disabled, then drones will go out and gather them.

You would probably figure this out anyway but yeah drag a big box around an area where animals are dropping manure, select manure on the list of selected stuff, then do ^^what Stimpacker says.

Build yourselves some drones, they'll do a much better job of it. I always build four.

Yep, just build drones, even one is enough. Check where some herd is and here and then draw a big selection box to select all their manure and tick them for collection, the drone will fly out and bring it all to base. Dont ranch them, simply steal it from the wild animals. a lot less effort that way and no overstocking of shelves with manure.

You don't overstock shelves with manure if you limit the space it can be stored in. And ranching for fuel only is no effort at all if you set it up properly.

what your asking for is : set up "allow to hold automatically", its not possible because all manure in the map would be added on your stocks, this would cause problems like big waves of monsters and probably performances of the computer... for every other ressources you need to do something to get them (mining before you can use stone, etc) but manure would be added directly when producted by wild animals. thats probably why this option is not possible.

Yep. I was imagining like a gathering zone from Dwarf Fortress. No biggie, ranching automated it.
