Why do they hate each other
I mean these guys absolutely despise each other to an unrealistic level. They're surviving together, living together, working up a base and defending each others' lives together, and yet they absolutely hate each other because they constantly bad mouth each other to each others faces.

Like why is everyone so unlikable to each other. Do only family members get along? Or did I just happen to pick four starting survivors that are hard coded to not get along? I don't understand, what can I do to get these people to not be -60 on everyone's social radar.

Yeah. This game reminds me of the TV show Lost that ran about 20 years ago; same level of drama, but in space. Now we just need "The Others" to show up in game and we'll be all set.

The best thing to unite humans is a common threat which there are plenty of in an alien planet. I think the devs got this one wrong by turning the whole conversation at the dinner table to a drama show.

On the other hand, intelligence is not a strong trait among any of them, conversations like "I am stronger than you!" ... that´s not something I have ever heard from any acquaintance of mine. That´s just one example.

They sometimes discuss matters which are appropriate to the situation at hand but don´t really delve into the science of it when debating.

Discussing the latest harvest is probably one of the most appropriate conversations they have along with a few other things.

PS: On a side note, the positive relation happens mostly so they can sleep together, that´s what it´s there for. So in a way we should all be happy they hate one another .. otherwise it would be .... hilarious.

One person in particular no one ever seems to like is Vivien, who I bring as a starter survivor in every one of my new games because of that 4x tailoring speed. Every game everyone seems to hate her, so I wonder if she's coded to be unlikable because of that really nice buff she has. But I don't get why that would be, since people liking or disliking each other doesn't really seem to have any effect besides screwin each other.

Yeah I've yet to see any harmful effects from disliking someone so why care?

had someone think umayer and talas being like -78 in their opinion of eachother, so if a positive 100 is a married couple, is a negative -100 a murder event :-)

For my own sake, I suppose. These guys have had quite the adventure together and have been through hell and back with each other after all that has been thrown at them. So after all that, going to their social screen and seeing that they all in fact hate each other solely because they've exchanged unnecessary and completely unwarranted hostile words at each other is just eh, immersion breaking (wouldn't surviving a brutal insect war then someone healing up all your wounds warrant a little positive feeling towards them? Naw, he said he had a better meal than I did a few months ago, that guy can burn in hell) and a little defeating for me as the player.

The only issue with survivors hating each other that I have seen is a -6 mood debuff when they annoy each other. While you can get a small buff if they like each other. But if they like each other enough to form a relationship it is both good and bad. They get a large mood buff if they sleep next to each other but a penalty if they don't.

Suggestion 1: mod it to where there are no negative mood modifiers due to personality conficts.

Suggestion 2: I'd suggest if the devs can put options under NPC interaction for the same reason listed in Suggestion 1, i.e., no negative mood due to personality conflicts.

May I also throw it that it's not unreasonable they do have conflicts. I understand that this is a video game and all, but it's not unreasonable to think that their conflicts with one another falls under at least one of the six known type of conflicts in literature (meaning: character vs. character):

https://proofed.com/writing-tips/6-types-of-conflict-in-literature/

Thus I propose that NPCs not getting along with one another is just a really good game mechanic. But, by all means, take up Suggestions 1 and 2 and have fun.

The devs have to work on the marriage thing though. The window that BOTH partners have to be at the arch is way too small. The ONLY way both would stay at the arch at the crucial second, was to allocate a block of 4hrs around the wedding time to "RELAX" and manually draft them and sit them next to the arch.

Nope, you can recruit everyone one hour before, send them to the wedding arc, wait for the message to pop and release them. They will attend the wedding.

Because it makes them unhappy and then they meltdown without warning, then they die.

That is what I said I did, draft them and sit them there. Maybe I missed out saying I undrafted them, but I thought that was obvious.

in my current game, I appear to have a mix -- fairly consistent -- with 3 or so survivors who are INTERESTED in 3 other survivors who dislike the interested parties to the tune of -30, -40, plus.

I suppose this reflects real life :)

This works, 100%, just like any other gathering. I can only speak to new years and the music nights. There might be other celebrations I'm not familiar with.
