Will underwater bases be fixed
I am simply wanting to know if there are any plans from the devs to allow bases to be made underwater.

My thought is that if a base is air tight, then it should also be water tight. So them filling up doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

How some of us explained it away, was that Sentiel Corp didnt send us the best blueprint for a habitat because of us being convicts and they dont exactly care if we survive or not. So they sent us one that is able to provide O2, but the seals on it cant keep out the water.

That's simply not possible. the planet has no atmosphere at the start, so the rooms function like space stations. There's no way it wouldn't keep out basic water levels.

Under the bottom of the ocean is a different story due to water pressure.

That makes sense.

The simplist answer is that water physics are a bit hard to program for lol......... Water would rush in if you opened a door, but wouldn't be able to come in if you have opening in alternate routes (Like ladders). But that would require a lot of programming for how many people who want to make underwater bases?

I'm willing to give the indie dev a little slack, he's not bethesda

Oh please don't mention that company. LOL! The turmoil over there is out of control.

I totally agree, but I think one big reason is it just wouldn't be that fun. Your trying to terraform a planet, not build complicated outposts. The amount of base building needed for the goal of transforming the planet is totally adequate and fits the game perfectly. Not like some other games.

I dunno about that. A little forthought can make anything fun.

No mans sky is supposed to be about exploring an infinite universe, yet I made a underwater city on a water world thats fully solar powered.

It's got tons of areas that run across the sea floor and under the rocks that allow you to look out

Totally understand and the bases you made are incredible. This is more a single-purpose game, while NMS is trying to let you do anything.

I've made some decent bases in Planet Crafter too but yeah, it's not the journey it's the destination with The Planet Crafter.

Really man, you have a good eye when it comes to base building.

Thanks.

That's what bummed me out about Starfield. I made some great bases in Fallout 76. Had this excellent diner...

I also made a haunted mansion on a hill but I don't seem to have any updated pictures online

This is the most updated one

Your amazing, but it is sad you can't do that with Starfield. Planet Crafter is a far better game at this point.

Thanks!

As a game dev myself, I can understand that it won't be the easiest of things to do. In regards to the water rushing in, I figure it would be the same as the oxygen in the base. Even when the door is open, the air stays in so the water would also stay out. I imagine that there is a forcefield or something in the doors that would act as a barrier.

I don't think that this would be possible with just a mod, which is why I was thinking it would need to be added to the game directly.

However, I can see about making a mod to try and see if I can accomplish this

Yes, but you werent a convict on subnautica. They dont give us all the good stuff seeing as we broke the law and they dont care if we survive or not.

I'm guessing that the problem is the water is static. Once it fills, the location is a water box (like they did it old school) so anything in the vicinity is 'under water'. It also explains why you have different screen effects when you go into different areas of the map. I doubt a simple mod would fix it, at the very least, you'll need a complicated mod that makes the water into a dynamic entity

With that said, if you could make a dynamic water mod, that would be pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool esp when the lake phase starts, so do it.

That would be pretty cool, not sure it would be able to, but would be cool if someone could do it.
