base building is really fun
I didnt had that much fun in a building game since subnatica. There is always more stuff to do and add.

I'm sad its over. There is not much more i can do.

Does everything stay intact when there are updates? As much fun as it is, i really dont wanna start from scratch again.

Got a real good shot at my base from high up.

So far, updates have not required you restart the game from scratch. However, sometimes ground level goes up or down which pushes base buildings underground or into the air.

You could split your tasks into two and build another base far away on the map. I have a manufacturing base roughly where yours is, and a biological base near the waterfall.

Thx. Well to move the main base would be much work. I hope that area stays the way it is.

I only have a few other sites over the map. Only one or two really important.

I'll just see what happens with the next update.

After I finished the story part of the game I started focusing on the space trader. Have built and adjusted my main base to add more trading options. I have built up processing and manufacturing to support two trade rockets for each item for sale. At the moment I'm looking over my base to see if I can move some of the manufacturing to other locations to help with the lag from the bots. I'm hoping for future updates to add more trade options.

Nice. I never would have thought of that...

I had the idea when i was taking a screenshot up there to get a good look at my base when it was still down 😁

It's a bit crazy but now my base is much better organised.

The domes are much more interesting from overhead. ;-)

Subnautica is my favorite survival game but building/housing is clearly one of its weak points imo, so I'm a little surprised to see that some people absolutely loved it.
I really like the design of the bases, but the possibilities are very minimal.
Planet Crafter also has relatively few possibilities, and little customization possible.
Generally speaking, games (like SN and PC) which base construction on "modules" rather than "walls" to be placed freely, offer fewer possibilities. It's not bad, but it limits choices and creativity.
I admit that personally I prefer to be able to install the walls as I want.

This is also one of the wishes for the next Subnautica, I hope that the building/housing will be much more developed than in the previous opuses.
We can also hope that additional possibilities will arrive in Planet Crafter with 1.0

Well i guess they still could improve in that regard. It's still EA.

Its pretty fun the way it is tho. All the different devices and items and handling them is a lot to do already.

Yes it's quite nice I'm not saying the opposite, it's just that as someone who loves building/housing I won't be against additional possibilities.
And there are certain things that I would have already liked to have, like the possibility of changing the color of the modules (that would be great), foundations of the same size as the compartments, glass walls and floor for the compartments in 1 /4 of a circle, the possibility of making rooms of different shapes (hexagon for example) etc.

But I didn't get to the end of the EA, so there are perhaps some of these things that we unlock with the trade rocket, since it unlocks certain things (I built it but I haven't sent anything with it yet)

Thats avoided as long as you don't build too close to the edge of the map which is usually where the dev changes things

You can build pretty neat stuff tbh. I tried add all kind of stuff. I got the glass domes, the cooking station, smart fabric. i added a fancy office and bed, use the different flower pots / veg tube as decoration and the incubators as a terrarium, build a neat living room and even a high garden in the sky.

I really like my base :steamhappy:
