Should I remove my aquarium T2 and use instead Fish Farms?

Yes.

Specifically because the Aquarium is more expensive (circuit boards) and needs 3 fish eggs.

The farm needs only 1 egg, takes less space and you can easily auto-craft the ingredients with an outdoor farm + T3 miner of silicon for the bioplastic and a silk generator.

That said, once you get to unlock the farm, though, then you've pretty much unlocked all the remaining blueprints linked to animals (after a little time). Personally I leave the aquariums there for some variety to the base with the lowest multiplier fish eggs.

The fish farm is better bang for the buck.
Ignoring the cost to make them...
With a golden fish (500%) the fish farm gives 25 oxygen, 10 pressure, 50 plant 90 insect and 975 animal for 155 energy
with the same gold fish the Aquarium T2 gives 250 oxygen, no pressure, 18 plant, 25 insect and 325 animal. for 255 energy
Only the animal number changes with additional fish eggs but with three gold fish you are most likely about the same as the fish farm (325 x 3 = 975).
So the fish farm gives less oxygen but more of everything else for less energy cost and a third of the fish eggs
The Aquarium T2 gives more Oxygen but less of everything else and you would need three gold fish to equal the output of the fish farm with just one egg. But it looks cool and adds to your base.

The massive spherical aquarium looks cooler than something just floating in the water. I have 2 hanging off one of my bases just because I can.
Get your logistics set up and your biggest problem is keeping the drones clean from all the butterflies they keep running into.... =)

I personally would have both, or probably more than 1 lol, I havent started the new update as of yet, but from what i've seen I'd go with both.

I'm now at six aquarium t2's and destroyed all my t1's. I have two fish farms right now and will be expanding those soon just for fun.

I like the domes. Remind me of the 70's movie Silent Running.
I keep the T2 fish domes for aesthetic purposes but put the 100% fish eggs them and use the higher multiplier eggs in fish farms

I keep what I've already built for aquariums and just start pumping into fish farms. I do the same with the butterflies.
