Multiplayer
Who remembers when multiplayer was promised as a feature for Train Sim World?

I do, many in the community do. Multiplayer would set this game apart and really bring Train Sim World up to speed with everything else. And yet when it came to releasing TSW multiplayer was quietly removed from the list of features.

Maybe we could actually get multiplayer this time. And if not, I wonder how many other features will get promised and then silently brushed under a rug.

Well on the features list for possible future additions they do mention multiplayer and steam engines.

So let's hope the old engine was holding them back and we will finally get those features in TSW2.

"We want to bring Multiplayer to Train Sim World, and we now have a design that we think will give a great social experience. It’s been crucial to design based on the experience of the mode, bringing the right roles and communication to our online experience.

"FAQ:
>>>>>>>>>>
Multiplayer is not part of Train Sim World 2,
<<<<<<<<<<<
but it’s on our future roadmap. "

so, normaly you can wait with TSW2 and bought TSW 3, 4, 5, 6,..... and mabye get KoOp/MP

Only buy this new Version if you need new Routes etc.

TSW1 ist only 23 month old, but there will never work for it in the future....

Can someone please explain what is so absolutely groundbreaking with this New version of ue 4 that everything just now works like clockwork ?

To me, the only big improvements they absolutely have to make are on their in-house development tools, and their creation pipeline.

I seriously suspect this "new engine version" to be an excuse for their crappy business practice.

I think they've redesigned the engine, like optimisation improvements.

Look I don't expect us to go from where we are now to groundbreaking 60FPS, although it runs fine for me right now, as they said they've not been able to do High Speed rail link as of yet, due to the engine. I suspect this will allow for longer/faster routes, because the current engine is broken af in terms of fps, not as bad as Train Sim but yeah.

Wait for tomorrow's Q&A, and understand the features.

This game is literally running on FREAKING UNREAL ENGINE 4 which has built in a fairly superior multiplayer features, taht are RIGHT there for them to use. The fact that they are NOT doing so, is just a proof they do not CARE and promise it over and over again to bump the sales.

Multiplayer would require a human dispatcher (like in Run8). Too difficult for the console couch potatoes...

Redesigned the engine? They are not using an in-house engine. Let me help to translate the marketing garbage:

The two summer interns that we got to shoehorn a train game into the Unreal Engine all those years ago stayed on (at low pay). They are now junior developers and they have realised that they made a lot of stupid mistakes. Hence why they have rewritten the few custom hooks into UE and we managed to get some improvements out of the game. We could not let this opportunity to double dip slip on by , so we figured that we will make this into a full game, especially since the scenario designer chaps had two DLCs for TSW2020 ready anyway.

As for multiplayer... I'll be honest, I don't really care much for the feature. I believe that MP is killing the quality of single player games in general, but that's a different discussion. We are talking about a company that is not able to save and restore the current session state for one client. Do people really believe that they know how to share and synchronise the session state amongst multiple clients? They don't... both conceptually and technically and hence why it's "still on the road map"

DTG claims that the two junior engine developers have been working on this update for over 9 months. That means that DTG were quite happy to keep quiet about this plan, whilst shovelling out DLCs full of bugs with no intention to fix the problems thanks to their TSW 2 get out of jail card coming up.

That's scum tactics and I think the people who are trying to justify this by saying you are getting two new routes and you can keep your old routes don't quite realise the full scum level on display here.

They said it for the first one, got nothing and no comments.

Dovetail can suck a toad because I am done with them like many others.

Ich glaube nicht, dass es jemals einen richtigen Ko-Op geben wird

- in einem gemeinsamen Zug fahren
- Abwechselnd fahren könnne
- Ticketkontrolle
- sicherheitsaufgaben am Bahnsteig
- Servieren / etc.

There’s no need to hope
In the next few years, developers will realistically see reasons why it supposedly won't work.

Up until now, you haven't seen any pictures or test attempts, so I firmly assume that this is all just a delaying tactic to release the next 10 versions without co-op.

Otherwise Dovetail - Prove the opposite, and show pictures / scene excerpts that you are really and realistically working on a co-op.

I don't think either.
They clearly state on the FAQ that multiplayer is not planned for TSW2, but is on their roadmap.

A nice way of saying "We'd like to implement multiplayer, but we have no idea how to achieve this, nor when."

It's a real shame when the competition actually features proper multiplayer.

Lmao, in order for a dispatcher you'd need track identification, something that seem way over complicated for Dovetail to handle apperently since it was requested many times.

If multiplayer is a big deal for you personally wait until it's in the game. We would rather persuade you to pick up TSW2 based on what is there for you to use rather than something that might be, maybe, in the future.
I think, the problem is:

dovetail never show exomplaes, or trying pictures for MP

So, everybody think the MP is only a far far far far away dreaming-feauteres, but is never testing or scripting begin -

Nobody know....

Ist es überhaupt schon getestet worden? Bzw. angefangen worden?
Oder ist es nur ein sehr weit entfernter Wunsch, ohne dass es jemals getestet wurde, ob es überhaupt möglich sein könnte

So what happened when multiplayer was promised for TSW then quietly disappeared? How can I even be persuaded to pick up the game for what it has when what you promise will be in it changes on a whim in the first place? I'm not joking when I say that I bought TSW on the promise of multiplayer and look where we are now.
