I won't even try without it.
Edit:
Oops, should have checked the next page.
If so, it changes the whole intent of the scene in the original game, which showed that Atrus was trying to disguise his holoprojector as a regular pool of water.
Eh, there's instructions for the hologram table right next to it and a blue glowing button right on the table itself. If the goal was the make the table inconspicuous, Atrus failed even without the fact that the water is now wireframe.
If this is information that was revealed in the Book of Atrus, maybe Cyan noticed this inconsistency and decided basing their art design decisions for this remake on a semi-canon novel wasn't the direction they wanted to go?
In the end, I think this is such a minor quibble and I'll be frank, I think the only people that are going to care are hardcore series lore nerds.
Hopefully a fix for the ending is possible someday, with or without Cyan.
I'm gonna disagree with this. I hated the 2D FMVs in Obduction and they totally pulled me out of the experience. The one at the end especially completely killed it for me, I thought it was so poorly done.
Well animated and designed characters can be just as effective as humans: see anything by Naughty Dog or Psychonauts 2 or watch the trailers for Kena: Bridge of Spirits - Kena and Psychonauts 2 are also both Unreal 4 games.
I think Cyan just needed a budget for this game they couldn't get and it shows.
If Cyan had the budget, the CGI characters could look very similar to the actors that were in the originals.
