Where is Hornsent?

I'm trying to kill Messmer, and I don't have a Hornsent summons inside the arena. When I talk to Frejya, she says she will follow Hornsent and Hornsent will seek his revenge in the dark tower. I've gone back over all the Hornsent quest steps that I could to try to make him available but the only incomplete part that I could progress was getting more dialog from the hag by wearing the beast mask. She also gave me some stew.

I solo killed the Hippo early and maybe did other stuff too early. Do I have no chance at this point to get Hornsent to help me with Messmer?

PS: I am using the Jolan & Anna spirit ash, so I know Jolan is not summonable.

Did you do the part where you Help Leda or Help Hornsent Up the stairs from the Hippo Fight, pretty sure you need to Help Hornsent in that fight for him to be summon-able for Messmer

That's correct.

In order to make both signs show up shortly in front the bridge leading to the store house elevator, you need to exhaust Leda's dialogue near the Highroad Cross site of grace until she wants you to make a call between hunting down Thiollier or Hornsent. Make sure to choose Hornsent, wait three in-game days and check if she has new dialogue, exhaust it again and move on to Shadow Keep.

Also make sure not to defeat Messmer, otherwise the summon signs won't show up and you won't be able to complete either Leda's or Hornsent's quest.

Both of these posters, including the frequent poster, are wrong.

You only need to kill the hippo. So, something else is wrong. Did you speak to Hornsent ever?

Yes, I spoke to him at least once. To answer someone elses question Leda at Highroad Cross says she will follow Hornsent and the place he will go to have his revenge on Messmer is the dark tower.

Sorry, for the delay in responding, I never get notified about replies and I had to jump through hoops to find my post. This Steam Forum is the worst game forum about that kind of stuff it has ever been my misfortune to endure.

To be fair, some quests are very easy to miss due to npcs not outright stating what they'll do next. If you haven't defeated Messmer yet, there's a slight chance of you still completing the quest.

LOL, if I defeat Messmer w/o Hornsent, I won't care that I can't complete the quest. As far as I can tell his only utility is helping me kill Messmer. I think having Jolan, Anna, and Hornsent distracting Messmer would help a lot.

I have one Problem. I have make the quest of Hornsent to the last step to kill leda. And now i am standing in the arena with messmer and looking for the golden sign of hornsent. Nothing. What can i do now
