Anybody else miss not using a greatshield?
Like dont get me wrong, at first it was cool playing a greatshield. But man, after a few playthroughs, I kinda wanna just walk around for once without a giant hunk of iron attached to my left arm for once. I am just wondering if anyone else feels this way or not because I definitely feel like this DLC should be called "Shadow of the Greatshield" haha.

Radahn is basically the only boss that """requires""" a greatshield, all the rest are fine without it.

Playing ER and especially DLC with a Greatshield and without is like comparing crystal meth to salt. Greatshield is overpowered, fun and highly addictive, and you will have hard time using salt as a substitute. Still, it gets boring, so yeah. But I get it.

Feels like it’s needed for most dlc bosses. It’s boring but it works at least.

LOL for me it is a necessity. Like without a greatshield, why bvother playing the DLC? Its definitely a requirement hence why every single build I made I used it because without it, I am just going to eat soo much dmg. I feel liek this was Miyazaki's vision but: for us to transition from rolling back to blocking like back in the good ol' DS1 days. So maybe this is how the devs want us to play?

Exactly and this is kinda my complaint with the DLC: they give us these cool weapons and stuff, but what is the point when we just going to hide behind a greatshield most the time? I feel like Fromsoft dropped the ball on this one...

Sadly it feels like a requirement to get through the DLC.

I caveman'd radahn with a colossal weapon. It's doable without a shield. Also note large weapons give you a higher damage reduction with their hyper armor.

Can't miss something you've never used in the first place.

Now Deflecting Hardtear - this is another story entirely. Started a new character and not having a reliable deflect tool feels depression-worthy.

I haven't used a shield since my first playthrough over 2 years ago.. It is not needed at any point.
Radahn can be facetanked with a defensive build. Use a heavy weapon on top to stun him easily and just brute force it.

Most would feel fine in sekiro with a parry mechanic. Which outside of a mixture isn’t a mechanic and one can only dodge so much. Wouldn’t be that bad being hit if each one didn’t take close to half your health and you need to heal. It’s the worst part of a from soft game ng+ levels of damage.

I think the redux mod or reforge for elden ring has that as an actual mechanic.

NGL I miss Dark Souls 1 when you can just slap on Havel's set and just face tank everything while swinging a giant ass greataxe just wrecking everything like a pro. NEver liked Fromsoft getting rid of the Dark Souls 1 poise in the future games.

You can still do that, kinda. It's more elaborate because you need many buffs like iron jar, Endure, Holy Ground and so on. But it is absolutely still possible to just stand there and smack the enemy.

You sorta can with Ironjar aromatic and some ash of war to move around fast, but still it requires farm... ehh I mean duping, noone is gonna farming that stuff, and using a very specific item that makes you slow (but then again, Iron Flesh was no different)

Sounds like you're not collecting Scadu fragments and then complaining that the bosses hit too hard. It's just like the launch day when people rushed the bosses and then cried about being 2 shot. The fragments make a HUGE difference, go outside and explore. At Scadu level 15+ pretty much only Radahn is any challenge at all.
