Varre quest broken? (SC)

[Secret Biscuits]

Using seamless mod and just started my first NG+ play through since getting the mod. Trying to get back to mog but the bloody fingers do the animation and don’t send me anywhere, and the challengers lynchpin send me to invade but doesn’t count towards progression. Dude just keeps telling me to use the fingers.

You can also go to Writheblood Ruins on Altus Plateau. There you'll find the red sign of an NPC. If you defeat him, the quest counts as fulfilled.

I have defeated him at least a dozen times it’s not working either. The. I went around killing all the invasion people at churches and stuff. No luck

How did you manage to defeat him a dozen times already? As soon as he's dead he usually stays dead. Are we talking about the same npc, Magnus the Beast Claw?

Also, defeating the NPCs that invade you don't count towards the quest.

I really have no idea what might cause it to happen, seamless might not work for that kind of stuff.

Yeah that’s the guy, I only knew exactly who you were talking about because I googled it earlier trying to exhaust my options. I have no idea why it doesn’t go away when I beat him it just stays there and I can do it again. I actually thought I could just fail it twice and then either kill him or fail for the 3rd attempt to finish the mission which is why I have fought him so many times. Then I thought well I have to beat him 3 times. No luck. Then I thought since he game me 5 festering fingers to use I had to beat him 5 times. No luck. Haven’t tried another summoning/invading spot if there are any yet.

I also assumed it was a bug with the mod, but it’s easily one of the most popular mods for this game. And for people starting a new play through for the dlc, or even people who hadn’t gotten there yet, I’m surprised I can’t find a single thing about this being a bug anywhere. Only other thread I see just said it was automatically skipable by just talking to him again which also is not the case for me.

Sorry, I'm kind of confused by this. Did you manage to defeat him a single time? Or multiple times?

Yeah seamless is prone to mods that seem pretty random. And honestly, no idea what causes it. If this is simply to getting to Mohh early, you can still reach Mohg's area during the late game. You still might have locked yourself out of Varré's quest, meaning you won't get his weapon.

I have killed the guy multiple times. Like at LEAST 12 times. I’m aware this is likely not supposed to be possible, which I assume is where I’m running into problems. But I can endlessly attempt the fight and gain a finger calling remedy and a rune ark every time I beat him which is neat I guess.

Also yeah I know I can go through the portal there later, and I don’t care about his weapon. To be honest the literal only reason I was trying to do this was because I know that’s the easiest spot to get an somber dragon stone early and I need one

I ran into the same problem, the only thing that helped was to run the game without the mod and invade

I ran into the same problem, the only thing that helped was to run the game without the mod and invade

I'm currently having the same problem. However, I know this use to not be the case and there are a lot of updates being pushed for seamless coop because of the DLC. I wouldnt try switching the save file as it may get you banned. Best thing to do is mention the bug in Nexsus and wait for another update. Probably around 3 days

I have exactly the same issue. I have invaded NPC OLD KNIGHT ISTVAN and MAGNUS THE BEAST CLAW, killed both of them 2 or 3 times but there is a bug that makes it so that their mark does not go away and I can keep invading them over and over again, no changes...
So Varre's quest is pretty much impossible to complete at this point :(
