Question regarding Ansbach.

Sorry for the simple question but i have been unable to find a solid reply to this question anywhere: if you side with hornsent during ledas quest, do you still get the incantation and weapon by the end from ansbach? Or would you have to side with him vs leda regardless?

I helped Hornsent instead of Ansbach, and got the scythe and incantation.
All that matters is that Ansbach makes it to Enir-Ilim, which requires him to be alive (i.e. don't help Leda kill him) and ensuring he gets the note in Shadow Keep.
I'm not sure if summoning him against Radahn is necessary. On my final run, I only summoned Ansbach but got both Ansbach's and Thiollier's gear.

As long as he makes it to the final boss and is able to be summoned there, that's all that matters. Siding with Hornsent is actually a better idea because if you side with Leda, she'll target Ansbach next, and we can't allow that to happen.

It is not necessary. You only need to have his summon sign available, and the same for Thiollier. The only places where summoning NPCs for bosses has a specific effect is when the summon signs are inside the boss rooms. So basically for Messmer and Bayle.
