Why do people like the Godfrey/Hoarah Loux fight again?
This boss sucks.

Yes, when using a Mimic Tear or another spirit summon he is a piece of cake, but have you tried fighting him completely solo?

This is the only boss in the game that REQUIRES you to jump during the fight as dodge-rolling is way too punishable.

The problem is, no other boss in the game requires you to jump to fight them, all of their attacks are dodgeable or blockable.

If the game had gradually introduced jumping mid-fight as a necessity from early on, it wouldn't be a problem, but the way it's done here is just plain retarded, not to mention the awkward timing of these attacks.

"bUt BuT.. mUh ChAdFrEy!!!"

♥♥♥♥ you.

You can still dodge everything with dodge. jumping is not required. It's one of my favorite fights in the game, it can be challenging with his ground slam timings, but the design is sick looking. I love getting suplexed 100ft in the air.

Pretty sure those that love the bosses by the combat are masochists.
I love when he just throws me up and slams me into the ground.
Case and point. The person above me.

Look, I understand when people complain about "Waterfowl Dance" being the only move that you must evade in a specific way. But jumping? Are we seriously gonna go on a tantrum about jumping? It's not even required, and the stomp is quite literally the same thing that Crucible Knights do.

I... what?

The suplex part is pretty funny, I do like that. :UTLAMETHYST: (It's also pretty easy to dodge, so I don't mind it).

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to dodge roll through the ground slams though (especially the ones with the magma stuff). Even at light equip load (which should grant extra invincibility frames) it's still basically a gamble as to whether I can dodge it or not.

Easily the best boss in the game, fair, great tempo, has great telegraphs and a very readable moveset. The entire fight is a crescendo in which the boss has a stronger variation in each phase, he's legit one of the best FS bosses ever.

You can roll the stomps, lol

You can roll the stomps, lol, and it does, you just never learned, plenty of attacks in the game are more effectively dodged by jumping than by rolling.

Malenia is an optional boss, Godfrey is not.

The Crucible Knights' attacks can be dodged rolled through (I don't think I've ever jumped through them, always dodged.)

The problem is that this one (unskippable) boss fight requires you to learn a mechanic that other bosses don't require you to learn. It's the same reason why I hate the Gwyn fight in Dark Souls. I never parry in these games, yet that one fight basically demanded that I learn how to parry just to beat one boss.

When he does the super two part explosion with his hands on the ground, I try to dodge the first then run out of range for the second part. Instead of trying to ddoge again

Look, if you want to suck Godfrey's ♥♥♥♥♥, I'm not here to stop you, but don't project your kinks onto me, okay? :lovey:

I mean I don't like him that much but he is one of the more fun to fight bosses in the game imo

You can get a free hit with jump attack everytime he stomps and none of his attacks are that crazy except for the big explosion

His range seems to be the whole boss stage though... :steamsad:

remember soft players are like bad gamblers, their strategy is to throw them selves at a problem over and over and over and try and brute force it. the fights is insanely tuned towards forcing player that play like that to fail, and soft player conflated not learning and having to brute force hundreds of tries with them being good.

How do I have fun fighting him though? (aside from using the Mimic or other players), because I really seem to be missing out on this "fun" that I'm supposed to have fighting him. :isabellaannoyed:

Nah, nah, nah, don't even try that sh*t. You're wrong on every point of your argument.

You came here screaming at how you all of a sudden must learn how to jump for this one single boss when you can just roll through everything he does.

And even if that were the case half of the AoEs in the game are meant to be jumped. Especially the stomps and groun pounds. Are you telling me you were rolling Godrick's Earthshakers? Cause that's just hilarious.

just gotta learn his moveset and how to play better

I think most people sufferred when they were beginners as well, but eventually you get good enough to just have fun without the frustration part
