Shabriri's Woe
So I started engaging in jolly cooperation and find that I have an easier time when the boss consistently focuses on one target, and since I can't count on someone else to use Woe, I may as well use it myself. But my first fight after starting to use it, I still lost the boss' focus a couple times; what gives?

Good question. One one of my chars I use two parts of the duelist's set, which has a similar but probably weaker effect compared to Shabriri's Woe, and I lose the boss' aggo pretty often. The only thing that comes to mind is that the host immediately gets priority whenever they attack. Other than that, no idea.

Also, kudos to you for trying to get the boss's attention as a sunbro :praisesun:

edit: fixed a typo. edit post feature, what would I do without you?

other players can still get attention from attacking, but you can use throwing daggers on the boss to quickly get back their attention if you have the talisman

Shabriri's woe is an important accessory for cool sunbros. But it's not a guaranteed "I will always be aggro'd" charm.

Keep in mind that there are actions that increase enemy aggro (think it's variable, idk haven't modded the game).

*Should probably mention that healing spells and buffs also can increase aggro. A modder would be able to explain it more detailed.

Shabriri's woe, from a mechanical standpoint, seems to increase the amount of damage required for an enemy to switch targets, while lowering the amount of damage to switch aggro back to someone with the talisman equipped. Upon enemy "wake up," the enemy will default to aggro-ing the player with Shabriri's Woe equipped.

To basically, you start with the aggro, unless another player also has it equipped, in which case, it's usually the first player to get within enemy aggro range. If a player, even without Shabriri's Woe, surpasses the damage required to pull aggro to them, then the enemy will switch focus to them even if they do not have Shabriri's Woe equipped.

As someone who does a lot of jolly cooperation, I generally don't use Shabriri's Woe unless the host or other cooperator are very bad players from a strategy or character build standpoint. That is to say, hosts with no VIG that get 1 shot, hosts and cooperators that spam magic or other ranged attacks at highly agile opponents, and hosts and cooperators that try to play aggressively but seem to get hit with every single enemy attack.
