Some wisdom in these confusing times (Nightreign)
1. The game is not a DLC in the same way that SOTE was. Nightreign is an experimental project that Fromsoft is using to test ideas: A rogue-like with new ideas in the elden ring world
2. We do not know what implications this has for the lore of the series at this very moment, how the worlds and stories of DS3 and Elden Ring are actually connected, or if any of it is actually canon. wait for more information, don't get freaked out yet.
3. "Reused" assets, is not a new idea. Everyone should be used to it now. the artists shack is LITERALLY in dark souls 3.
4. This is a standalone video game. As we know right now, purchasing it will not effect your Elden Ring gameplay or progress in the slightest.
5. Criticism is valid of course. But remember these guys have a pretty good streak going, from demon souls to shadow of the erdtree. 14 years is pretty impressive. Doesn't mean they CAN'T fail or mess up, but compared to some other revered development studios in this industry, maybe Fromsoft deserves a little trust. If you don't trust it I understand and respect that, its a massive;y different and therefore risky idea that they could miss on.

If you're reading this have a good day, and praise the sun

OH AND ALSO NIGHTREIGN IS NOT BEING DEVELOPED BY HIDETAKA MIYAZAKI!!!!!!!

It is the first time game director Junya Ishizaki's project. He worked on Dark souls I and III, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring. though I can't find what exactly it is he worked on in those games.

So don't expect MIYAZAKI quality, expect Ishizaki quality. We've never seen that before up until now, so we're gonna learn what it's like.

I mean considering the quality of Armored Core 6, which also wasn't developed by Miyazaki and was developed by the lead game designer for Sekiro, Masaru Yamamura, good fromsoft games that weren't directed by Miyazaki is not a new thing. Again however, we'll just have to wait and see.

So basically if this game turns out to be successful, we can kiss our ass goodbye to invasions?

Maybe, maybe not. Invasions have been a concept since Dark Souls I and have been enjoyed and expected by fans a literal decade. If Dark Souls IV or Elden Ring II do happen, I'm unsure why they wouldn't include invasions, even if Nightreign is successful. If it IS successful, then the new ideas fromsoft is including may very well be included in new projects that relate more to these mechanics, maybe a bloodborne sequel or a Sekiro Co-op are in the works, who can say for sure?

Have a good day or night brother and praise the sun

Ishizaki worked on Dark Souls level design and Bloodborne/Dark Souls 3/Elden Ring combat design. At least according to something I found online, but take it with a grain of salt.

As Miyazaki stated Elden Ring allowed them to form new dev teams with new directors - and this seems to be the first project coming from this. Whether people are going to like it depends on whether its fun, short and long term. It's not my type of game, but I'm not worried by its existence.
I'm just waiting for Vaati to dissect the trailer :steamhappy:

The worst (and only) thing (in my opinion) From has made since Demon Souls has been Dark souls 2. And it's way better than 90% of the stuff out there. Let's see what they can do.
