You are part of the problem then.
FromSoft has been deploying more of less the same online structure since Dark Souls 1 as far as I know. The fact that they simply "can't" change certain game design choices either means they don't care or they are too cobwebbed in the head to realize how archaic certain design choices have become. Could be both at the same time, since Japanese developers are known to use mechanics and design choices that no longer "work" from a decade ago. Capcom also suffers from this, so that's another example.
