Does not increase stance damage, only actual damage and by some 10-15% i think. Not a game changer, but neat on big hard hitters.
Spear talisman increases bonus damage that is dealt by Thrust type attacks that land when enemy is taking an action (usually: attempting to attack themselves).
You could combine both talismans to deal absolutely crazy damage on a fully charged heavy thrust, since the bonus damage from the Thrust counter will use the increased damage of the heavy as base for its' multiplication, leading to some ridiculous damage numbers.
The Dark Souls 3 strat was to attempt poise-trades with victims, baiting them into attacking in hopes of staggering you and just tanking through it delivering your own counter. More often worked against other great-weapon users, since they think "well, i can just poise through it" and sure, maybe they can... Will pay for it all the same.
