Nothing will stop cheaters.. its a cat and mouse game that devs are unwilling to fully invest in.
It's especially egregious when you factor in the fact that there's an entire in-game mechanic that facilitates this kind of behaviour, and we see that this issue has been on FromSawft's mind given the fact that you can only be invaded by using Taunter's T*ngue or playing co-op in Elden Bling. Somewhere along the lines somebody saw fit to give the player a proper way to prevent invasions and avoid such scenarios without going offline, that way everybody is happy; PVE players are happy because they get to avoid invaders, and invaders are happy because they can still invade and make some random sods suffer for no reason.
So far, the only workaround to save corruption is to back up your save after every session, that way you can revert back to a previous save without having to restart the game from the beginning.
Does reporting of hacker profiles actually do anything? Meaning, does anyone really check these reports and actually ban/suspend the hacker's profile?
1. Backup your existing saved games
2. Delete the saved game files from your App data Folder [You will still have a backup that you took in step 1.]
3. Start a New character
4. Take regular backups of your saved files every time you exit the game.
This can happen again due to hacks, Game bugs etc....
I am sorry this has happened to you but unfortunately it can happened again.
Also just as a precaution disable this in Windows
[This was an Issue in Dark Souls 3 and has been patched and FromSoft confirmed not an issue in Elden Ring but You do not need remote code execution enabled in Windows]
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/microsoft.powershell.core/disable-psremoting?view=powershell-7.5
[Do not blindly just run what i have told you, please look into what the above does and ensure you understand it, This will stop you from being Scammed by me and also make you aware to do it in future if someone just tells you to do something]
Hopefully all of this will help you.
I am on Windows 10 and had PSRemoting disabled for about 2 years now without any issues.
But having it disabled just ensures nothing can ever use it if there is an exploit that is able to use powershell.
