scared of hackers

Heya guys do u guys know if playing in offline mode also makes it impossible for hackers to not ruin ur save and or game?

because i dont really want to have to make a manual save every time i log off because of that!

Playing in offline mode is completely safe, as far as I know.

You'll only ever run into a hacker if you are invaded by one, or summon one. You can go offline so that you don't have the option to summon, but you can still remain entirely online and never run into one.

A hacker won't just join your world while you are running around alone. Unless you are using the taunter's tongue.

dw bout hackers mate, always copy paste your game file onto your desktop, keep it fresh after every boss/step u do, and replace it in case hackers destroy your game, i just met 4 hackers this week and im just doing fine by doing this step above. cheers

but no, as far as i know, u are completely safe in offline mode, i just heard from 1 case this happened, but might be a bug or something else

Completely safe when playing in 'Offline' mode. No other players of any type will be in your game, nor will the usual cacophony of messages show up.

BUT, you should STILL make manual backup saves of your game after every major accomplishment and session. NEVER use Cloud Saves with Elden Ring either.

If your game should be terminated (for whatever reason) abnormally, there is a very good chance that your save may become corrupted.

I have played 650+ hours in the game, all offline, with zero issues. And zero contact with other players while in the game.

My game plan is to keep playing online. You don't have to back up your file after every game session, especially if you don't do summon coop. There are two less cumbersome alternatives to manual backups.

The first is to turn off Steam Cloud save and renable it over a clean game session, then toggle it off after the save was uploaded. This way if you encounter a hacker, all you need to do is reinstall the game, then renable cloud saves after.

The other is to immediately using the FInger Severer when you see "Invaded by..." text. While it sucks that Im no longer able to play with clean invaders, id rather not take the risk. I also play coop for bosses, not necessary invaders, its a nice thing to experience but not a deal breaker for me if I avoid them.

Seamless Coop mod with known friends and invasions turned off in the config file also allows you to play with others safely.

I agree with the rest and I backup save after every session
but I also have cloud saves activated and never had issue with them.

And I had some nasty crashes (some caused by hackers no less).

but they are using cheats who knows what they can do with them when u can see their shadows and what not. its scary .

Hacker's are incapable of impacting your game in any way unless you deliberately invite them in so to speak. the white 'phantoms' you see while playing are not in real time, they are old echoes that have no bearing on your game regardless of what the individual who left them is doing in their own game, they can't carry virus' nor corrupt your save file.
