Invading can be hard, but you'll get there eventually.
I was pretty good at Ds3 pvp, haven't really had time to get into elden ring pvp, the game is soo much bigger.
If you're still stuck, try doing your invasions from Folly on the Lake. That is the grace I used multiple times to complete the quest.
