multiplayer issue - cannot see friend's summon sign

i can see other player's messages, blood stains, and my msgs are being appraised so my connection is present

tried having everything set properly in the multiplayer tab (so has friend)

no dice, cannot see their summon sign and have no idea why. far and wide the internet has no solution

Have you set the Network Password to ensure it's viewable? Once summoned this still means you probably are queued to be invaded eventually, once you go online or summon a co-op. This removes the range restrictions or improves it a lot as well- you will simply scale up or down to what the player currently has.

Otherwise there is both a level and a weaponslevel based restriction. If they don't match closely enough in the same ranges, you will get less connections and visibility except to players in the same ranges. Usually ranges are pretty good but you probably are not in the same level ranges.

Is the area boss still alive? For example, if you try summoning each other in Stormveil after you already defeated Godrick, you won't be able to coop there any longer.

Yeah, my friend and I had the same problem. We believe it's what Lord Bob is suggesting. The lower island and the academy are locked off to us... :(

Is the area boss alive?
Do you have same multiplayer password?
Did the host use furlcalling finger remedy?
Is summoning allowed in an area where host is?

If at least one answer is NO, then you won't be able to connect.

Also, if either host or summonee was banned for cheating or using mods, you wouldn't be able to connect either

Is your game's native language set to English? If not, change your steam settings to English, start Elden Ring and see if you get some kind of pop up message about a 180 day penalty.

it seems like it's kind of exclusive to me. I can't summon, or be summoned despite doing all of these steps.

i still see messages and blood pools implying there is an existing internet connection tho? my messages are being appraised still too

Did you guys try summoning each other by using a red sign and did you try to see if you get any pop up messages when opening your game, when the game language is set to English?

Well, you would get a message at login about it too.

Just saying though, that's exactly what happens when you banned. You can still see all the bloodstains etc, you just can't participate in multiplayer
