yea theres no real diff tbh and even so its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bugged too your damage can actually go down like with colossal weapons
Several of the Somber ancient dragon smithing stones come from NPC questline rewards.
Larval tears can be traded. If you're really needing more than the 7 or so you readily pick up during a single run, you could likely make some friends who can backup their saves, drop a few for you, and revert their save.
I just savescum trade with a friend to get around this limitation.

I'm sure they had some logic for it, but I'm not entirely sure what that would be?
I'm all for it, would prefer a shared bank for all characters long before this but whatever.
