"Except I'm in melee range and swing at him with a sword,"
yeah this, stop that
These enemies are all c o c k s, and you have to beat them.
can melee him totally fine, dodges dont even need to be timed very well
Every level you climb generally boosts many/most of your resistance stats which is far more useful than raw hp because you're getting hit for less damage, and if you get those resistance boosts while also increasing your damage dealing capacity you're going to get the fight finished faster without standing around being some bosses punching bag.
Again, if you're an average player and want to crutch on summons there's no shame. Summon, then focus on dodging until boss aggros on him then chug flasks, go for punishing strikes etc
I'm saying the problem is the fact that the boss is a gigantic mess of a model that moves way to damn fast for it's size and who's tells are almost impossible to distinguish from it's movements when it's just moving around.
The problem isn't what you're suppose to do, it's HOW you're suppose to do it. Something that this boss is an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥ about with it's spazzing out no matter what it does.
all you need is to just, look around
