About Niall, no clue if I'm better then I thought or just lucky

Went to sol with a bunch of bewitching branches to deal with his summons, plus +10 mimic, a maxed upgraded Fingerprint shield and a max upgraded sword of blasphemy, level 203 with high stats is str/faith but that fight ended pretty quick.

Kept think, this is the land of the giants, get ready for the spike is difficulty, but so far I'm either way over prepared or lucky or the spike is just waiting to catch me off guard.

I know how strong and useful is the Mimic, but the question here was specifically about Dung Eater against Niall.

Also keep in mind: The mimic is only so stong when you're a higher level / have higher stats and have access to more gears / spells / incantations. A very low level player can't even summon the mimic ( not enough hp). And when you deal low damage with your weapons and can get oneshotted by the boss, the mimic isn't the best choice.

Just checked, 21 VIG is the min to summon the mimic, so anyone with at least lvl 11 can summon it (obviously it will be crap due to damage, armor, etc, but still).
Using the mimic as distraction for a time, for a longer time or to solo the boss are 3 different scenarios too.

Fine. Dung Eater is the second best summon of the game, specially for the last fights. Tyche is made of paper and the Dung Eater heavy armor actually makes him a good tank! Plus he debuffs everything and proc/helps building bleed. So good choice but if you want a brainless tank get the crystalian. As long there is no strike or fast damage going the thing is nearly unkillable.

Disagree, Ogha is the second best due to the fact that she can hold her own, and stunlock enemies to death. Watching her repeatedly knock malenia on her ass from across the arena was hilarious for me.

If you want your mimic to be TANKY, go 99 END and 60 VIG, Omen Greaves and Omen Armor (from Dungeater set) with talismans (Great-Jar's Arsenal, Erdtree's Favor +2, Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman, Godskin Swaddling Cloth) + some light weapon (up to golden halberd or around it) you get light weight, lots of defense and a mimic that will tank it all, with Blasphemous sword it barely will lose health, but aeonia rot maybe still kill the mimic.

Problem of Ogha is he is completly dumb as duck. If Malenia or some other fast boss engages him in melee he will swap to lousy normal shots or grab his sword. That ruins him.
He also brings nothing more and have much less HP than the Dungeater so yeah for low NG you can use whatever! But after the 7 mark its sad but not all the summons are feasible.

The key in NG 7 and beyond (specially if you are not lame and overstuffed like me) is to stack all the buffs and debuffs you can. Dung Eater brings this

Just for that he is the best choice!

Heard Omenkill Rollo is pretty good to, due to his heavy attacks and bleed effects. I heard he is pretty aggressive, too.

Which is why you keep Malenia off of him, same as any ranged summon. Not difficult if you're a competent melee fighter, considering Ogha knocks Malenia to the ground with every shot, giving you plenty of time to close distance and get hits off.

Seriously, Ogha trivialized the fight last time I did this.

Ogha is a fantastic choice nevertheless. Malenia melts the summons with the Aeonia, even my god like FAYFFF mimic just dies like a clown.....heck 50% to 0%.....
So any summon with ranged AI like Ogha or Lattena is good enough till when you can summon a god like mimic.

Exactly my point. When that screws people over because they didn't become proficient with one of the most basic mechanics they only have themselves to blame.

Hell yes....i remember a guy i helped from the forums. He wanted me to solo her.....in fact he bloody was waiting in Limgrave (sarcasm!) while i kited her....of course she killed him first time. Warned him to participate but guy just ignored me, had no choice but to give him a giant middle finger sever. Good times.

Personally I like it when hosts let me solo the boss, its fun for me. But I get why you don't, it can be annoying.
