Should I buy the base game and buy DLC later?

I would like to buy this game but i also want to buy the DLC and the DLC is currently not on sale, so my questions is should i buy the game base game now and then buy the dlc later on discount?
or should I wait for the bundled discount and then buy it?

Yes. The DLC is visually stunning, but lacking gameplay wise. I would wait for a sale. ER is currently on sale, so grab that now and wait for the Xmas sales to get the DLC.

If gaming is your main hobby I don't think waiting for a sale matters. Just buy the games you want.

I'd buy and play the main game to make sure I'm enjoying it before purchasing what's essentially more of it.

The DLC is fairly disconnected, you won't miss anything.

You haven't played the base game yet and you have a character from the game as your name and icon? Anyway, as others said the base game is fine. It will be quite a while before the game will let you access the DLC anyway.

I advise you to play the main game first, when you get to the Consecrated Snowfield and get out of the blizzard and find the teleport to the Mohgwyn palace, then start thinking about whether you need the DLC or not. When I got to the shadow ground, I had already played about 200 hours and the game tired me so much that I ran through the DLC very quickly. And considering that the DLC is as empty in terms of plot as the main game, I think that buying the DLC was my mistake

Timeline-wise it's before the maingame ending. That's not a huge point ;). According to FS's sale history the expansion might not be on sale before summer 2025.

Plus SotE has one of the coolest boss fights in the whole game accompanied by the best voice actor in the whole series so far.
