Why does FromSoft not enable ultrawide resolutions in their games?

I don't understand their aversion.

It's already in the game. If you have an ultrawide monitor and select an ultrawide resolution, every once in a while the game will start at the full ultrawide resolution, then black bars will show up after few seconds to cover up the sides of the screen.

So it's not even that they have to add it in. It's already there and they're choosing to disable it. It was something that was trivial for modders to add to the game. Even Sekiro which has zero multiplayer doesn't support ultrawide resoultiuons

There is no "aversion". AC6 is proof of that. Honestly, I think it's pure ignorance with prior games.

From my understanding, it's some pseudo-intellectual take from Miyazaki. He seems to think it's an absolute unfair advantage in PVP, therefore, it can't be allowed.

Even though the game renders in UW. Ya, he's a vury smert goi.

In reality, they just hate PC players, plain and simple. It's a very dumb situation all around in this regard.

Compared to Dark Souls, Most of the NPCs in this game actually move their mouths instead of blankly staring at us. They're improving.

I laughed at this cuz coming from never playing Souls that was one of the first things I noticed, how terrible the lip talking animations are for characters lol. Knowing that it was even worse than this makes it funnier to me now.

When the game was firstly released, I used to play online and in UW. Then they patched it and patched some more until you couldn't anymore.

Here's a March 2022 screenshots of me playing online in UW.

Just the other day I updated my game and booted it once vanilla, the old "issue" of not rendering the pillarbox was still there and it got me afraid for a moment. I had to alt tab to see if I had Flawless open and to not risk a ban. But wasn't open and was just the game reminding me that the lack of UW support is just intentional. Not incompetence, just a matter of not wanting to.

people who keep saying no fairness in PVP ijust typing opinions that is not facts because in games like PoE when in UW you can gank your party or whoever went in the PVP arena, also in the quest to get the necklace on whoever chose which bandit you picked. Many games today including Diablo 4 has a PVP zone that shows equality on spacing. The Devs just need to catch up on the way games need to be made before time runs out on being obsolete. For example remember the time people who bought plasma TVs but that did not last long and so many companies had to dump that idea and many resources wasted. Today they have UW and making larger ones but they are not supporting it. The newest one today is a "57 Super UW with all the goodies a regular monitor has. The Devs and upper management just need to see it through.

Same reason the games are all capped to 60 FPS for no reason. Japanese developers are just really weird about this stuff, and I'm not sure anyone's found out why. Could be in the name of console parity, could be some "competitive integrity" thing, could be they're simply clueless. Nobody knows.

It's really damn annoying though. You can fix all these arbitrary limitations with mods, but then you get no online play.
