Wukong is not open world which means you are stuck fighting a boss till you beat it with the same weapon over and over. You can't really compare them on difficulties you can make Elden ring as easy or as hard as you want. Heck just use a knife to beat the entire game.
Wukong will be dead in few months while people will still be playing Elden ring.
And there are those guys who then double down on their elitism and are proud of it, as if they were the guardians of a game series that, if you look at it by itself, clearly doesn't mirror their narrative at all... I mean FromSoft could have come out after Sekiro and stated: "Yes, only a small percentage of players completed the game, and we are proud of that! This is the difficulty we wanted! Git gud everyone". But they didn't. They were not happy about it. This, apart from uncomfortable facts like "jolly coop" in DS1, thriving coop communities in every Souls game, NPC summons and tons of "OP" items etc. designed and put in the games TO BE USED, is a very clear message on what their stance is on the whole topic. So, in the end, the poor gatekeepers are completely on their own, with nothing left but their own sense of "I beat it with a stick, I'm da man!". Let's gloss over the point that many of the same guys actually can't beat the game with a stick and immediately make a thread when a boss "is cheating *crying noises*"...
I used level 300, Bleed and Shield poke for some of the end game bosses of the base game.

It's funny and ridiculous how the list of banned practices keeps growing - and OP even forgot "spells" ;)
You missed a fantastic boss fight. Instead of learning how she moves and the genius behind her moveset, all you did was to hold L1 and press r1. You even used mohgs spear... I could do what you did watching a show on another screen and eating chips. Why not just tape down the l1 button, or better still, use a macro to make it press to release....
All I can say is you missed out on so much, it's not maddening, it's just sad.
People like you play wukong, die to the first boss then complain how it's harder than elden ring NG 7.
Wukong is the objectively better game, as it filters the scrubs and only the ones who truly want to enjoy the combat loop stay and appreciate what the devs have done.
If you honestly think Wukong is some kind of "G4m3r 5k!11z" filter, your estimation of difficulty shouldn't be taken seriously. I just dog walked (rimshot here, please) the giant wolf yaoguai who guards the black pill in the temple on my first go.
Thus far, the only thing that's managed to trouble me is the giant stone baby-man wandering around before the previously-mentioned boss battle.
I'm certain the game is going to get harder, but thus far the combat loop is "bait out attack, perfect dodge, deliver savage beating with monke stick, repeat." The trash mobs are exactly that: trash that gets swept aside without ever getting a lick in.
I'm enjoying the hell out of Wukong so far, but this is not a filter game at all up to this point. If anything, it's a bit like Lies of P if Geppeto offered some lube first.
Normal mobs are killing me in chapter 3. 2 of the normal mobs in chapter 3 are harder than blue baby, and apparently chapter 3 is still baby mode. One of them requires 4 perfect dodges in a row or they'll roll catch you.
You will struggle to land even a single light attack after 10 perfect dodges on later bosses. That's how hard the game gets. The only way to cheese it is to literally cheat by modding it. There is no in game baby mode spell to rub your head and soothe your boo boo. You either master the combat loop or die.
Wukong is objectively far superior, because you can't spear and shield Malenia to death. That video was absolutely disgusting to see, ngl.
Not every one is as elite as you mate.
I still had to do plenty of tries to get everything right :)
But yes, getting level 300 from the rune giveaways was a bit of an overkill and i should probably do a normal playthrough at some point.
For elden beast i could not really shield poke tho, so for those 2 it was greatsword & Mimic.
As for Wukong, I don't have time to play it with New world of warcraft expansion, Season 5 Diablo 4, Blade & Soul daily train, Daily/weekly stuff for Cata & SoD + whatever else i feel like doing.
It's just too much to add wukong onto as well.
Stop! Stop!
My nose can only get so long.
