What were they thinking with Death Bird?
I am absolutely losing my mind. I can not believe this boss got through testing and that they decided "hmm this is a pretty good boss, let's have the player fight it 9 times". Did they think making it optional made up for the fact that literally nobody in the world enjoys fighting this boss?

What's wrong with deathbirds?

I like the deathbirds. They are a challenge and the later game ones give pretty good rewards.
They basically all have the same attack pattern and it's just a matter of learning their moveset like any other boss in the game.

i like the deathbird challenge. Pro tip: Deathbirds are weak to holy damage.

I... dont know if someone enjoy these but I think they tested the other lategame and optional bosses and considered that Death Bird is there just to give an item after some fight ... The early death birds are more of a "normal enemy type" for their difficulty as I think these are there just to give you some item.
For the items the Birds may be good, for the fight I dont think so, for most Death Birds just stay under the Death Bird and try to get behind, spam attack and that is it.

Deathbirds are easy, especially with a shield. Now, deathRITE birds on the other hand are a pain in the ass, I agree.

Use holy water pots, it absolutely WRECKS their health. Holy damage in general does absurd damage.

The mega fauna/flora are a nice addition to the expansive landscapes. Polly want a cracker?

Birds wielding spears or swords can be challenging for melee characters in the game cos you need to time when to hit them almost like parrying.

The boss itself is fine, the terrain however is usually not. The caelid deathbird is just so atrociously bad to fight its nutty. There are so many hills and obstacles on the ground, all the hitboxes get screwed up.

Which is why I let them kill me a few times before I kill them. That's the only reason I die to them.

You don't seem to understand the meaning of optional. Never wander around at night and you'll never even know they exist. However if you want the great loot they drop then you have to fight them. They come in two flavors. Deathbirds and Death Rite Birds. The Death Rite birds are the meanest and biggest ones and drop the best loot. There are 4 of each.
