it's not like DL2. in ER, like in every other soul game you get to progress host's playthrough for a short while until you clear a bossfight. since your progress is separate you can essentially clear the same location twice with killing the same boss twice (for you and your friend) and get more exp.

As far as the game using PS architecture, any links describing this process would be appreciated, something other than Reddit. Not trolling, I just couldn't find anything about it when I Googled it, and I would like to know more about the inner workings of the game. Thanks in advance.
See, that unfortunately is the problem, because both PS architecture and FROM own engine are closed source. IE trade secrets, we can't get any information on them.

What we have to do is use process of deduction. Which is to say, Elden Ring doesn't have any significant issues on PS5 (aside from the usual to be expected these days anyway), and it has quite significant issues for a lot of people on PC.

If it were made for PC a lot of the obvious "oops" issues we are seeing would not be issues. Lets just say FROM should be a bit embarrassed, because I've seen indie devs make games with less optimization mistakes, that are still in early access.
Thanks for the response.

I just believe that consoles are easier to program for. With PC, you have multiple factors to overcome, the main being Windows, but you have different manufacturers, storage, CPU/GPU brands and speeds, power supplies, etc., and it just naturally presents a bigger challenge. On console everything is 1:1 for their respective brands.

No excuse though, if other devs can do it, From should be able to as well.

Regardless though, I'm sure they have a dedicated team that works on it at the same time the console is being worked on.

Who knows though, maybe the PC guys have to wait for the console guys to finish. Like you said, there's not much info on it.

You'd think it would be easier based on what you just said, yes. But on the other hand...well, consoles all use their own unique operating system. A closed-source OS that no one can get any info on.

If you try and put an xbox disc into a playstation it won't work, and vice versa, and that applies to pretty much any media designed for any one console. From what I understand, there isn't much of a reason to encode console OS differently, aside from making it purposefully difficult to decipher. Otherwise emulators would come out much quicker than the current rate.

Meaning you have to purposefully encode a game to run in a very specific way, to a very specific pattern to get it to run on a console at all. PC on the other hand is open source, its not difficult to decipher how windows works, in fact its the most straightforward OS out there besides some linux systems. You just have to deal with hardware issues on PC.

So it might actually be easier for a company to design for a console first, then port it to a PC. Though that's still not an excuse, considering over half of the gaming audience, in general not just FROM fans, now uses PC as their main platform...

Don´t buy it for Co-op. If you start Co-op you get permanently invaded from highlevel players, they grind you all the day.

I see your point, but, during the designing process, a problem on one PS5 is the same on every PS5. If you look at PC, a lot of the problems will be specific to a certain entity, like the drivers, software version, Direct X version, a particular brand (Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Radeon, etc.), meaning one problem could take 10 different fixes on PC, whereas that doesn't really happen on console.

No this is not the kind of game you buy strictly for co-op
Co-op advertising is fake, something Steam famously lets everyone get away with. 'Fake tags'

It is co-op/pvp because of constant invader storming. Also co-op is only for bosses, and some dungeons or zones. Nothing else. It's not a co-op game, and pvp is horrid. Think ds2-3 broken mechanics. All the same if not worse.

+ + not what die hard DS fans admit but I believe the co-op engine hasn't evolved for 2-3 generations lol.

for now using seamless co-op is the best course because there's 2 minutes disconnection glitch that haven't got patched since release.
