Sorcerer Rogier got done dirty
He was quite possibly one of the first NPC's you meet and you just have no way to save or help him, he doesn't want anything and he doesn't ask anything of the player.. he just.. dies.

It really made me sad seeing my friends slowly die 1 by 1 and Rogier, although he offered me nothing, was still a friend.

I like how D mentions he used to be a really strong and dangerous spellblade in the past, makes you curious how strong he really was and how his motives/morales have changed since his body started deteriorating.

Have you done anything with D's armor? I may be a bit off on this, but if you see the whole thing with D's armor through...

How is the thing with D's (nuts) armour related to Rogier tho? Its mostly just a continuation to the Fia quest afaik

Yes D's armour has nothing to do with Rogier.

The only relevance is that Rogier mentions D has a brother.

Rogier actually do ask you to do some stuff. He has his own quest that is linked to both Fia and Ranni. But yeah, he got done dirty. It's a shame that he die so early on with very little to offer considering he's one of the first NPCs we meet.

Which, much like the main "twist", is painfully "so what?"

Right, but if you look at the person to whom you must give D's armor, the character model looks an awful damn lot like Rogier--and you can't get to that spot until Rogier has passed. It may be my old man eyes, but I feel like that's Rogier we're finding down there, and that he's D's brother.

It's a nice thought but neither D nor Rogier have lost their mind by the time this conversation takes place and they have both clearly spoken to each other, so i don't see how they wouldn't recognise each other. Possibly due to Rogiers big hat.. but i think that's reaching

I get the sense--from the lore embedded in the armor description--that D is part of a twinned-soul issue (the lore says something to the effect of "they are never without each other"). Again, this is pure speculation on my part based on circumstantial evidence, but is it not possible that the reason they don't recognize each other is because they're two halves of a whole, and we can't ever "see ourselves" in a philosophical sense, because we're forever looking out from our own skulls?

Again, I know it's a bit of a reach, but I don't think it's *entirely* unfounded.

But he knows Rogier, or at least of him. And Rogier knows D. Further more, D (Darian) knows his brother Devin. Darian and Devin are twins. Rogier is not even hinted to be one of them.

Yeah basically what this guy said, there is no correlation between Rogier and the D twins. Rogier is just there to hint at D's brothers whereabouts and i think that is all.. unless someone can remember something else he done.. We should at least be able to help Rogier in some sort of "last request" type style

It's depressing and it makes me sad but it does really show how everyone is also on their own journeys, D and his brother eventually succeed in their goal and Fia also does so.

Rogier never does ♥♥♥♥.. man..

This video gives a clear look at both NPC faces close up. A good view of the face of D's brother is at 1:55 and for Rogier at 2:45.

I know certain things like Rogier's hair may not be canon because it is never seen in normal gameplay, but I think the difference in face shape is enough to suggest they are not one in the same.

Also I was of the impression that Fia's champions, Rogier among them, were spirits of people enthralled by Fia; companions who lay with her at some point before their demise. Also Lionel, another champion who can appear previously as a summon for Radahn, is also supposedly dead like Rogier as his set can be found very close to the real Roundtable Hold, almost directly albeit very far above Deeproot Depths.
