Is vagabond like, the prime PVP starter class?
So I don't do a ton of pvp and watch the occasional video, it seems a lot of builds use vagabond as the base; is there a reason for this? Does it have like a good stat distribution for the common best stats? Just curious really.

classes do not matter.

Only your build and stats alongside minmaxing

The starting class mainly matters for Min Maxing, so depending on the build the class can be good or terrible for it.

There are no common best stats for builds. What every build needs is a baseline for vigor, depending on your level.

The rest completely depends on what your build is. Are you a sorcerer? A spellblade? Crazy naked dude with a club? A cultist? A knight? An assassin? Santa Claus?

isn't it one of the better classes for STR builds ? when i was making a STR character, Vagabond had the lowest level for the stats I wanted by one level. it's not much, but when you are wanting to stay at a specific level, picking the right starting stats is can help min max your stats

Funnily enough its also good for a dex build in some instances better than even samurai.

Wench is the best, it’s a flexible starting class that will let you easily respec from build to build as you spread your wings in search of a perfect pvp build

Starts with the lowest ARC stat, which makes it good to optimize for most builds that do not use arcane.

This is a bad tip as Wretch is the only class that isn't optimal for anything in PvP, since all the stats start at 10, meaning you'll always have wasted levels in either one or multiple stats if you're trying to stick to a meta level.

Wench also starts at RL1, wasted levels will be negligible to none.

If you don't need arcane or a pure caster build, then yes.

Wasted level are quite negligible, usually 3 level at most, starting as wretch is the best tip for character building since you won't be terrible at any builds.
Unless one have a specific build in mind and not gonna change it ever, in that case start as a specific class might have some small marginal benefit. If not, start as wretch for best versatility.

That's not how attributes work in ER. Every class has the number of attributes allocated per level, meaning a lvl9 Vagabond and a Wretch that leveled up to 9 will have the same total number of attribute points/levels invested.

This leads to the Vagabond outclassing the Wretch by a number of levels equal to the points that are under 10 in the attributes the build isn't using.

Say we're going for a strenght or dex build this means that a level 9 Vagabond has a 5 levels worth of attributes over a level 9 Wretch. With other classes/builds picking a Wretch may means you will be up to 10 attributes points weaker at the same level compared to other, optimal classes.

It's up to 10 levels for a pure int caster.
Even with that logic, Vagabond has the best versatility/wasted points for every build except arcane.

Also, OP specifically asked for the best outcome.

Vagabond is the best class for minmaxing, which means it's just the best class overall. There is no reason to pick any of the others except challenge runs.

Okay, and if you decide you want to respec from a str/dex build and try a faith build, how do wentch and vagabond compare then?

It's still superior to Wretch because of lower Int and Arcane. It will be effectively 4 attribute points stronger.

Come on man, it's basic math.

My interpretation is OP asking for best PVP class IN GENERAL which indicates overall performance instead of a specific build.
