Above 51, poise works as "health". If enemies hit you with enough poise damage, you get staggered.
Any bigger hits will stagger you no matter what.
Above 101, you may resist some bigger hits but not everything.
Not exactly sure beyond that. Maybe 95 is the same thing. Maybe it isn't.

jk. for real tho i pvp with useless poise for aesthetic reasons, and people even fight naked. just don’t get hit unless you’re trying to trade hits pvp. i wouldn’t worry too much about it
