Two bosses are extremely lame and badly implemented, yet there is no cheese for them also.
Wait you can use Torrent? What?
- After his 7-hit wombo-combo, there's yet another opening where even heavy weapons can squeeze in two hits
- Staying to the left of the boar often triggers him to do a simple thrust down, which gives you an opening
- In Phase 2, it's really easy to punish him with a jump attack after his enhanced charge
This is something that I can remember off the top of my head. Pretty sure I'm missing at least two more opportunities to attack.
Pretty much every attack can be 'perfect blocked'.

Gaius was a pain to do without a shield, and I never felt in control of the fight even on the run I beat him. I found a sweet-spot where I could roll forward-right through his charge, and whenever I saw the tell for the long combo where his pig goes ham I just picked a direction and sprinted away from him as fast as I could. Otherwise, I stayed as close to him as I could hoping most of his attacks would go over my head, which ended up kind-of working.
I was a caster though, peppered him with lightning javelins from afar whenever I had a bit of breathing room. As a melee build, idk. Man doesn't give you openings to punish or heal with, not without a summon being a distraction. And he's yet another boss that doesn't stagger, so that kind of cuts your options down to shield-pokes and face-tanking.
Aye I tried it with him, but honestly after 1-2 hits Torrent will be down and you'll be sat on the floor waiting to be hit by the follow up so it doesn't seem worth it.
Maybe its just Scadu as he kills me in 2 hits, and looking at damage its going to take around 30-40 hits to kill him, maybe more WITH a +23 Greatsword.
Killed his max NG+ version today for the third time, im using holy incantations this playtrough and the damage he took from anything holy was obscene.....after stomping him i checked and yes he is extremly vulnerable to holy damage.
Other than that if you are desperate get yourself a shield with 100% physical negation to reduce his charges damage to 0, rot him and hit him during a opening after his extremly predictable 3 hits combo.
No, I was going to ask for advice, but honestly I can't be bothered, his mass spam of attacks is just tedious, and I can't be bothered searching for another 50 or so scadu to get up to the level to beat him.
He just feels terribly designed and if there isn't a clear strategy you can use to understand then slowly improve I can't be bothered. So far every attempt has just been him spamming attacks over and over, and if I miss 1 dodge likely dying as he does half hp on the first hit, then has already started spamming attacks by the time I'm trying to stand up.
