Metyr, mother of fingers
Does anyone know if Metyr, mother of fingers is a great one? I noticed she shares a similar move as the lesser amygdala in bloodborne, also the way you communicate to meet her is similar to that of Rom. Could this be another fromsoft tie in to bloodborne? :er_heart:

Item descrptions suggest that she is the daughter of the Greater Will. But that does not necessarily mean that she isn't a Great One.

What exactly is a Great One? Are they just old gods from outer space? If so, she fits the description quite well, I reckon.

Hmm, it's quite possible that she may be an alien. There is evidence of this with the suggestion of the Fallingstar Beast located in the Hinterlands that there are alien-like beings from other planes. I suspect that Miyazaki may be hinting that with the Fingerprint Ruins there may have been a large being that descended to the Shadow lands and placed his finger on each of the ruined sites. Mother of Metyr may be a lesser version of this larger being. Similar to how Ymir cradles the small hand, Metyr represents a tinier version of a much larger fingerprint great one.

Miyazaki has certainly intrigued me now

She's very clearly of lovecraftian inspiration, her watery arena with otherworldly components, her cosmic magic and her almost amorphous appearence are all textbook cosmic horror, the fact she's just an envoy makes you imagine how horrible are the things that lurk beyond the stars.

it is said somewhere that she fell on the lands of shadow like a meteor, and that she was in the outer darkness with other beings like that of different types.
she received "orders" from the greater will at first and then it stopped.

Why did the Greater Will send both the Elden Beast and Metyr, is the question I have. GRRM introduced a lovecraft element without providing any context. I had assumed that the DLC would wrap up plot holes, but it appears that they have added a ton of new mythology to further perplex people.

There will undoubtedly be an Elden Ring 2. There is no way there isn't with all of these unanswered questions.
