The Minor Erdtree spell reveals Marika returned here at one point to leave a Minor Erdtree to bathe the village in gold, despite everyone being long gone.
What was their deal anyway? Especially how they treated everyone who didn't align with their own goals/religion and the means they used to enforce their believes. The hornsent are just straight up cruel.
Right now it looks as if hornsent took 5 people from the village and Marika decided to just kill everyone because of that.
Now that I think about it, she's hilariously evil.
Given how the Great Potentates in Bonny VIllage look like, they likely didn't take everyone at once, but raided the Shaman Village multiple times, until eventually only a few souls living in the village were left, which also explains the state the village is in when the player reaches it.
As for the timeline - the problem isn't just with him. His whole company is still there, with him, somehow. Unless they reproduce in the shadow keep, I have no idea why exactly they are still alive. And it's not just the DLC, everything is screwed up. It feels as if things happened in the timespan of 10 and 300 years at the same time.
Its a gameplay consensus , the same reason why the entire lands between has one farm to feed the whole country. It conveys what it needs to without making unnecessary work for the devs. Or why Lyendell wells for drinking connect to the sewers , or why there bosses in rooms they obviously couldn't get out of and etc. Don't overthink it,there are 0 reasons to waste dev time to make it 'believable' when its made to convey a point and focus on gameplay / traversal.
I'm not sure what you're trying to say by "his whole company".
In a lot of cases people visited the village after killing her so here is that!
As for the "his whole company" - I meant his company of knights, men at arms, soldiers. He's a demigod, he can probably live long. But his men can't.
