DLC armor sets have awful stats
I'm so mad that like 80% of the DLC armor sets are straight up trash, with really low poise and negation. PEOPLE ARE TAKING RL150+ CHARACTERS TO THE DLC, why the hell do all these awesome looking sets feel like random starter sets you'd pick up in Limgrave??

The key art set, Oathkeeper Knight, has 42 poise, for Christ's sake! FOURTY TWO, it's straight up inferior even to the basic Knight set (51 poise) you buy 2 hours into the base game. Why do this? What's even the point? You'll look at it once, go "huh, neat", and then put it into storage to never use again.

51 poise is the absolute minimum you'd want for PvE, and by the time you're in the DLC, you'd have at least 27 END, so there's no reason to wear rags ever.

Poise is if you ever intend to trade hits, people all the time are running naked in the game and still winning

Goat talisman exists

Theres a fat as hell high poise set in the dlc

Are you trolling?

yea unfortunately this dlc seems targeted to make you trade with mobs lol. 'hit R1, they swing'. the best set of armor in the dlc you get an hour in after beating blackgaol knight

there are people who enjoy to look cool and don't need to min/max their gear to beat the pve content

To be fair base game armor is trash too and you should be trying to avoid damage entirely.

'just don't get hit' mentality is faulty, man. people are going to take damage, the entire game has been poised by developers to hit you from every angle.

also oathkeeper armor is the altered version of ledas armor. Doesn't make a huge difference, just saying

You can’t have both. It’s the rule of every single rpg ever.

Incorrect. Altered Tree Sentinel set with the Jar helmet is peak fashion, and the bull goat talisman pushes its poise to 101.

Yeah, that's one set, and also Verdigris at the very end. Literally 2 sets out of 30. Are YOU trolling?

The whole point of STR builds is interrupting enemy attacks during their windups, which you need poise for. If your poise is low, then it's YOU who's gonna get interrupted.

It's called counter damage and there are whole builds around this mechanic, using the Spear talisman. How familiar are you with the game?

Which is why all kinds of poise-boosting magic and gear exists.

I was having trouble utilizing dodge strats against Rellana for example. Progress was being made, but it was frustrating.

Four hours of progression.

And I then I decided to swap over to Raptor Talons with Endure.

Endure boosts poise and raises absorptions by 45%. This is on top of whatever other buffs you might have running.

So instead of dodging, I stood my ground and wailed on her and bled her to death. She didn't even have time to do the moon bomb. Fight was over in 25 seconds.

This is all to say that the OP is suffering from a fairly common problem:

Lack of imagination.

The tools are there. Just gotta use them.

Yeah, this has been a trend ever since dark souls 2.
Dark souls 1 was the only game that did armor right, where you ACTUALLY FELT TANKY wearing full black steel, havel or stone armor.

In all the subsequent games, having the best armor in the game just means that you're going to get 4 shot instead of 2 shot, or 3 shot instead of 2 shot or even 1shot :/
