When did the Souls/ER fanbase get so toxic?
Every critique of the DLC is often met with "git gud scrub" or "don't play the game then" fallacies. People have the right to form their own opinion and critique what they think could have been done better and should be able to have a rational discussion about it. Instead of this, we get an army of Miyazaki's no. 1 dickriders attacking any post that has some form of negative opinion about the DLC.

baseless and/or misinformed complaining is not critiquing.
Kernist Jun 30, 2024 @ 10:01am
I don't agree with you. I think majority of the people here are on the side of "this DLC sucks, especially Radahn" and "git gud" people are a minority. I think fanbase got way better than it was during DS era where you got ♥♥♥♥ for admitting you summoned someone to help with boss.

Greetings, OP.

I never saw you posting here before and after checking your post history i saw your illustrious and wholesome other posts......dots.......

Anyways coming here to insult people who love the game and waiting for the predictable reaction, insults or awards........we are more than fine, specially without being offended for the sake of the LULZ. Other than that feel more than free to leave your hot-take about the game......who is stopping you?

Have a good one, OP.

This. Bring something substantial without (like you do, OP) directly insulting people, and you should get better results...

Every critique of the DLC is that something is too hard in a series known for its brutality. The series became popular specifically because there weren't other games anymore with this level of challenge, not since the 1990s. Games have become accessible to the masses and made too casual friendly. Dark Souls proved there was still a market for hardcore games.

Basically, they're mad at you for trying to diminish and complain into nerfing a game collection that serves as the last bastion for players wanting this type of gameplay. There are plenty of other games you can try if it doesn't suit you. I recommend Kingdom Hearts.

cause most of the "critiques" are that the dlc is too hard therefore leading people saying git gud because most of these people that complain are casuals that played elden ring cause it the easiest base game out of all of them and min maxed the game instead of improving their skills in the game

A lot of the complaints are dumb, insincere, and basically engagement-farming (which many people fall for, annoyingly enough).

But many people do offer good advice. It's just overshadowed/ignored by the stupid replies.

well the fact is not as toxic but like always toxic make aloot of noises, the thing with negative reviwers aloot are just trolling or try to trigger people, or are like, OOHHHH I LIKE BANANA BUT THIS WATHERMELON TASTE LIKE WATHERMELON PLZ MAKE THIS WHATERMELON TASTE LIKE A BANANA, a example on some player doesnt like the souslikes games and buy they negative revies about the game is hard XDDD, but also yes are aloot of people are toxic as F, i nearly dont use spirit ashes but the people how complain about spirt ashes, its like its a mechanic in the game you can use it, if you dont want to use it its ok but dont complain with the others about it is a mechanics, or sometimes poeple ask for help i love do coop on souls, but some people are like git gud learn the hard ways, not all people are good on this game and that its ok, if some ask for help why not help it, you win runes, maybe fight good boss again its just win win on help some people on coop XD

If you don't understand the intricacies involved in the discussion, maybe you should avoid broad labelling. It just makes you look extremely dumb and goofy. Fandoms aren't toxic. Individuals are. Toxicity is whatever the person being butt hurt deems toxicity to be. For some people, that's being told to do better. For other people, that's trash talk.

The moment you put your opinion out or your critique, that in turn can be criticised. You don't get to decide how other people are going to reply to your garbage, then claim that they're toxic when you don't like how they respond.

"those damned miyazaki dickriders!! how dare they not agree with x or y!!!!! ♥♥♥♥ THEM FOR LIKING THE DLC!!!!!"

^^this doesn't make you look any less toxic than what you're describing.

It makes you a hypocrite.

All other bosses except radahn are great. Exploration was amazing. The ending sucked but whatever. Overall an absolute banger of a dlc.

I see your point and mostly agree with you. I think the DLC could have been a genuinely great expansion, (such as in the past Souls games), but collecting the Scadutree Fragments in the later stages of the DLC just felt like such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chore to me. I was fine with the other bosses, but second phase of the final boss (which I beat eventually) just made me never want to touch this DLC again.

Despite my complaints, I thought the DLC was decent. I apologize for the wording of my former post (and the lack of substantial information).

If this in any way surprises you then you haven't been here for very long. There have always been the "git gud" clowns typing that response out for jesters since before jesters were a thing.

The FS fan base isn't especially toxic, trolls are. I part of a big FS normal and speedrunning community, no trolls, no toxicity. You only found that on twitter, or forums like steam.
